[00:00:00] Speaker A: So, Dan, are you hooked? Like, the goal is to hook you. Are you hooked?
[00:00:03] Speaker B: I mean, I, I would say yeah. Yes. You know what I mean? I mean, I, I would certainly go on a Disney cruise instead of like, you know, Royal Caribbean or something like that, because I just think that they have a lot to offer.
[00:00:31] Speaker A: Welcome back everybo to this week's episode of the DCL Duo podcast brought to you by. We do travel, right? And Sam, ready for listener review time. You want to.
[00:00:40] Speaker C: I am simply the best.
Better than all the rest.
[00:00:46] Speaker A: All right, this week's listen review comes from Emily R.H. combs, who writes Planning Perfection. This podcast has the all caps, best information.
I listen in preparation for our first Disney cruise. There were so many helpful tips and recommendations. Not only is it helpful, but it is very enjoyable to listen. Now I'm listening in preparation for our next. Well, thank you for that review, Emily. We really appreciate it. We hope you enjoyed your second Disney cruise. If we've not had you on the show, you should feel free to reach out. We love having our listeners on the show.
And for all of you out there listening, just remember, one of the easiest ways to help support the show, head over to Apple Podcast, hit those five stars.
If you leave us a written review, we will read it on the air at the top of one of our main episodes. And if you're on one of those other podcasting platforms listening, YouTube is a big platform for podcasting. Spotify is a huge one. But any of them just hit the stars, the bells, the thumbs up, the hand clapping, the confetti icon, whatever it is that you can give us, give us all of it. And it helps make the show more visible to others out there in the community. So with that, Sam, let me throw it over to you to introduce our guest and our topic for today.
[00:01:52] Speaker C: Yeah, we are going to be talking a little adult only, cruising with first time guests. Not first time cruisers, but first time guest to the show. Amy and Dan. Welcome, guys.
[00:02:03] Speaker D: Hi. Thank you for having us.
[00:02:04] Speaker B: Thank you.
[00:02:05] Speaker C: Yeah, we're excited to have you. Now, Amy, I know you're the big, big Disney Cruise Line fan and Disney fan and you're also a travel advisor as well. And I understand that your husband Dan is a reluctant Disney traveler now.
So I want to hear from you guys before we dive into Talking about this 50th birthday destiny sailing that you guys went on, we gotta understand like your Disney background and how you got Dan to go on, I don't know, his first Disney trip, his second Disney trip, and now Disney Cruising.
[00:02:40] Speaker D: All right. So I grew up going to Disney World with my family. We went like every year. I was obsessed with going. Once I had a sister, she and I would go by ourselves. It was awesome. So Dan and I get married and I didn't really think about that, you know, when choosing a husband, which is fine. He's wonderful. And so we went to Paris for our honeymoon. And so I somehow managed to convince him that we should go to Disneyland Paris for a day, which he was. He was into that. I went on most of the rides by myself.
And it was just kind of. It was just kind of sad. It was kind of sad. So we, you know, we got home, we didn't try to go to Disney again for a while until we had our daughter. We had our daughter. I convinced him that we needed to go before, you know, without our. Our son was. She was two and a half. Our son was nine months. We left him at home. We took her for. Just for a long weekend. And that went okay.
It went pretty well. He enjoyed how much she enjoyed it, but he again, just wasn't sold. It probably wasn't till maybe 10 years later when we moved to Georgia. We. We grew up in Connecticut, so we moved to Georgia. So it's a lot closer, a lot easier to get there. And for my 40th birthday, we went to Epcot because I had never been to the Food and Wine festival and that got him not hooked. But that, that got him interested.
[00:04:06] Speaker C: But the festivals, Yeah, I mean, the food, the wine, the. And then of course you can do festival. The arts. Right. Like all those festivals in Epcot are really adult oriented and not really, you know, young kid and ride oriented, so I understand that.
[00:04:22] Speaker D: Exactly. So now he's into it. He likes going to all the festivals. Every once in a while I get him to go to another park, but.
And you enjoy some of it?
[00:04:32] Speaker B: No, I do. I really do enjoy. I can really appreciate the art because I'm an artist.
So I really enjoy that aspect of it, you know, along with maybe more of the kiddie rides.
[00:04:44] Speaker D: Yeah, he's not a ride person.
He thinks the bumps.
So.
[00:04:54] Speaker C: Yeah, I love it. That's hilarious. Now, when. When did you guys go on your first Disney cruise? And did you happen to do any other cruise lines prior to Disney? Like, are you a Cruising family or did you get into Cruising because of Disney?
[00:05:08] Speaker D: So we didn't do it. Oh, we did one when the kids were little. Yeah, we did a Royal Caribbean one. Bermuda, I think it was.
[00:05:16] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:05:16] Speaker D: Which was fine, but we weren't necessarily cruising people. I had done one Disney cruise when I was younger, but I don't remember much about it.
When we moved to Georgia, the fantasy was doing a seven night with a Star wars day at sea. So I convinced him we needed to do the Star wars day at sea because he likes Star Wars.
And so we did that.
He liked it. He complained it was too long.
[00:05:40] Speaker B: Well, it was the seven day, not the five.
[00:05:42] Speaker D: It was the seven night one.
[00:05:43] Speaker B: It was the seven night.
It was a long cruise.
[00:05:47] Speaker A: Clearly. Clearly.
[00:05:48] Speaker C: Dan doesn't listen to our show because our motto, of course is more nights are better than less nights.
[00:05:54] Speaker E: Always.
[00:05:54] Speaker D: Always.
I completely agree with you and I would be on those cruises if I could.
So we've done a couple of four nights.
[00:06:03] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:04] Speaker D: On the Dream with the kids and that seems to be the sweet spot for Dan.
So.
[00:06:09] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:10] Speaker D: Four or five. You would do five nights?
[00:06:11] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:11] Speaker A: I mean.
[00:06:12] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:06:12] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:12] Speaker D: Good to know.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: It's easier.
It's a lot easier because our kids are older now.
[00:06:17] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:06:17] Speaker B: Too. So it was a lot harder when they were younger.
[00:06:20] Speaker D: That's. That's very true. So yeah. So I did one with the kids, with my mom and my sister. But this most recent one was the first time we went, just the two of us.
[00:06:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:06:30] Speaker C: Yeah. Now this one was to celebrate your birthday. And you left the kids. They're teens now. I take it you left them at home.
[00:06:39] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. They're 20 and 8.
[00:06:41] Speaker C: Oh, they're adults. Yes, young adults.
[00:06:44] Speaker D: Originally we had booked for them to come on the cruise with us, but they thought they were too cool for a Disney cruise.
But they both ended up regretting that. So mom's always right.
[00:06:55] Speaker C: That's. That's absolutely right. Now what made you choose the destiny? And you chose a four night sailing, I take it? Because the sweet spot for Dan has been for maybe five night cruises. But. Yeah. What made you choose the destiny? Of course you're not going to choose the treasure because that's a seven night cruise. But there are other options for four night cruises. So. Yeah. What about the destiny interested you or did you think would interest Dan? Amy?
[00:07:19] Speaker D: I did. I thought that a lot of the marvel theming would interest him also. Selfishly, I'd like to get to all the ships.
[00:07:28] Speaker A: So.
[00:07:29] Speaker D: So it was new for me, but I just thought I had a lot of cool. He really likes Pirates of the Caribbean. Like I had a lot of cool spaces that I knew he would enjoy Haunted Mansion.
So that was really.
[00:07:40] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:07:40] Speaker D: Plus, and this four night sailing went to both islands and that was something that both of us would enjoy.
[00:07:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:07:46] Speaker D: So that was also part of it.
[00:07:47] Speaker C: Awesome. Now, Dan, did you do any research on the ship ahead of time? Like, did you know anything about what you were getting into when you got, like, when you were getting ready to go on the Destiny? Or do you just, like. Are you just like the passenger princess and you let Amy do all of that thinking?
[00:08:03] Speaker B: Honest with you? I didn't. Oh, Sam, I'm sorry. Sam, I'm gonna be honest with you. I didn't even have the app downloaded until we were in line.
[00:08:11] Speaker C: Yeah, I kind of love that for you.
[00:08:14] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:08:16] Speaker D: And I had a mini heart attack. Listen.
[00:08:18] Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, like I said, somebody's gotta be the passenger princess in the relationship, and it's okay if it's you. If it's you. Dan, that's. That's.
[00:08:27] Speaker B: Well, I mean, she's not really going to let me do anything anyway, so.
[00:08:31] Speaker D: Anyway.
[00:08:32] Speaker C: Right.
Fair. Fair. It's funny. Amongst us, like, Brian. Brian is much more the planner amongst the two of us. But of course, like, I'm a. I'm an intense Disney Cruise Line fan, so of course I sort of plan out what I'm going to do, but when it comes to, like, sort of travel arrangements and things like that, Brian is definitely the organized one.
What were the things that you, like, did plan in advance, Amy? Did you, like, did you book any adult dining? Did you. Any drink tastings?
You know, were there any things that you had to make sure you. Or like, you. You thought, I want to get that in advance of. Of sailing on the Destiny?
[00:09:08] Speaker D: Yes. So I was very excited because we'd never done any adult dining, never done any drink tastings. We were always with the kids, and they were little at the time, so. And they were big kids club fans.
So my biggest thing I really wanted was Palo brunch. And I thought, oh, I'm gold now. I'll be able to get it. No, no luck. No luck even when we were on the ship.
So I booked a Palo dinner for Pirate Night. I booked Enchante Lunch, which I was hoping to switch to Palo Brunch, but didn't. But it worked out and I booked three.
I. I might have even booked four drink tastings because I knew he would enjoy. Yes.
[00:09:47] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:09:47] Speaker D: I don't mean that we ended up like.
[00:09:51] Speaker C: Yeah, because, like, three drink tastings in four days and two adult dining meals, like, that's a lot to plan. I. I'm gonna tell fol listening.
I'm gonna say do not recommend for a Four night sailing. For most people, if you are somebody who has like been on the ship a million times and you really love those drink tastings, you really love adult dining, go for it. I just would say, like, that's a lot because it takes up a lot of time that you might want to be exploring the ship. No judgment. I think choose your own adventure. And I love that for you. Honestly, I was trying to get him
[00:10:26] Speaker D: hooked up, you know.
[00:10:27] Speaker C: Yeah. No, and there are, you know, you make sacrifices in order to get your spouse into the things that you're into. Right. And so if that means I'm going to like a whiskey tasting, I'm going to a whiskey tasting, I guess. Right. Like that's. Yeah, I'm with you there.
[00:10:42] Speaker A: So which drink tastings did you book?
[00:10:44] Speaker D: We booked the champagne tasting, the rum tasting, and we booked the Mojito. No, I couldn't get that one.
I was trying the mojito one, but that one was at like 9 o' clock the last night of the cruise and that was just too hard. But we ended up being able. They opened another mixology class while we were on the ship, so nice as well. So. Yeah. So rum, champagne, great options.
[00:11:11] Speaker C: That is a good thing to note though, Paulo brunch. Even if you are gold, silver, sometimes even platinum, like if you're on a sailing that only has one sea day, which is what you had on, you know, four night sailing, you've got your embarkation day, which is, I mean, that's just embarcation day. Right. It's. That's a full day. Just that. Then you've got your lookout day, your castaway day, and 1C day somewhere in the mix. And so everybody who is platinum and above is getting a free or included meal at Palo, and they're mostly trying to get Palo brunch. And so not to say that people don't love Paulo dinner, we love Palo dinner as much as you know, anybody else. It's wonderful. But I, I think the demand is always for brunch. Brunch only happens on sea days or occasionally at NASA days on certain itineraries. All right, well, let's talk about your, your travel. I imagine you're not going down. Well, you might be going down the same day because you live in Georgia. I mean, I probably wouldn't. I probably still go the night before, but. Yeah. What was your travel plan area?
[00:12:14] Speaker D: So we, we went down the night before. We drove down after work. We're both teachers, so it was our last day of post planning. So it was really Nice. We just left and we went right to. We ended up booking, like, All Star Sports at Disney because we figured seven hours was easier than 10 hours at, you know, right after work. So we went.
Went there and it was great.
[00:12:37] Speaker C: Nice.
Now, what was your port arrival time for the ship and what time did you leave? Because you're driving yourselves. You got your own car.
So what was the time that you left All Star Sports in order to head down to Port Canaveral?
[00:12:52] Speaker D: We were supposed to leave at like 8 o', clock, but we were a little late. But that's okay. Our port arrival time was at 11:30, and we probably got there at 11:30, which ended up working out fine because we were able to just quickly go through all the lines and everything.
[00:13:07] Speaker B: It was fine. I didn't see an issue.
[00:13:10] Speaker D: I mean, we. Because we were late, we parked, we, you know, we dropped off our bags, we parked, and we were on the ship by 12:05 after we downloaded the app and all that.
[00:13:23] Speaker C: That's hilarious. Yeah. You're standing in line downloading the app. I mean, there is WI fi available at the port. I do not recommend waiting till you're at the port only because the WI fi is not that fast and it's faster if you're doing it at home or at the hotel.
But it is what it is. It's fine.
At least he got the app on his phone for those listening. You need the app because in order to.
Well, if you want to message. If you don't have an iPhone, want to message one another, and you don't want to use, like, WhatsApp. And if you want to keep track of what events are happening on the ship. And it's also how you can look at, like, your folio, like, what you've spent, your pictures, like, all that kind of stuff is all done, like, through the app or linking through the app. So definitely it's the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. Like all cruise line apps. It's not perfect, but it is what it is. It's mostly easy.
[00:14:14] Speaker A: The only one we have. So we just got to live with it.
[00:14:16] Speaker C: We just got to live with it. We don't no more. They don't do paper navigators like they used to do back in the day. All right, well, let's talk about the boarding experience. Sounds like it was a quick check in.
You guys had not been on a wish class ship before, am I right?
[00:14:31] Speaker D: This is our first.
[00:14:32] Speaker C: All right, so you're walking into the grand hall, which is pretty grand when you compare it to an Atrium on one of the other ships. What did you guys think?
[00:14:41] Speaker D: I thought it was amazing, but I knew I was going to think it was amazing. What did you think?
[00:14:44] Speaker B: I thought it was really nice.
[00:14:45] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:14:46] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[00:14:46] Speaker D: Okay. Yeah, hero.
[00:14:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:14:49] Speaker D: Oh, good. Yeah, hero. Minnie was up in the balcony and the statue was really cool. Like it was all just really cool. Like we were very excited to be there.
[00:15:00] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:15:01] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:15:01] Speaker C: Well, what do you guys do when you get on a ship? Are you like running to. Well, were you running to try and figure out if you could switch to Apollo? Were you heading for lunch? Like, what were the things to accomplish when you first got on?
[00:15:12] Speaker D: Normally when we were with the kids, we were, you know, cabanas people. But we didn't go up to Marceline Market. We went right to Tritons. It was already a line because they hadn't opened yet. Already in line to try to get brunch. We finally got our name on a wait list. And then we went up to the pool deck because I said, let's get pool deck food. Because this pool deck food is supposed to be better than all the other ships. And it was. Or all the other older ships and it was. And then we went to the adults only pool, figuring it would be quieter at that point, which it was also. So we went.
I had Donald's Cantina.
You got some pizza.
[00:15:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:15:53] Speaker D: And some barbecue. He did as well.
[00:15:55] Speaker C: And then we went to good food on the pool deck.
Yeah. Awesome.
[00:15:59] Speaker D: Has no business being that good.
[00:16:01] Speaker C: Right. It's like it's real. I mean, for cruise pizza, I mean, it's not like, you know, you're from Connecticut, so, you know, good pizza too. It's not, it's not like, you know, New York pizza, but it's really good for cruise line pizza. It's really, really good. Way better than anything you get at the parks for sure. Yeah, yeah. And all of the. Yeah. And the barbecue and the canteen are excellent. Now I love the idea of starting your cruise at the adult only pool deck. We've talked about when we've done back to back cruises, heading right to that adult only pool deck because it's really completely empty at the start of a cruise because most people who are heading to the pool are doing so with their young kids. And so that that area is really nice and quiet.
Did you guys get to spend a lot of time up there in general on the cruise or just that first day? Like, because it does get crowded and kind of oversubscribed because it's not that big of an area. Is the one. Is the one negative?
[00:16:51] Speaker B: Not much, but we kind of a couple more times.
[00:16:53] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:16:54] Speaker B: When we walked around. We would walk around up there.
[00:16:57] Speaker D: Yeah. But we did go to the pool a couple more times. But it's just. It's strange because they have that. That little tiny infinity pool. And then on either side where those bench. Whatever they call them, I don't know, they're too hot. You can't even sit in them. Like. I don't know.
So. Yeah, but it was just nice to grab a quiet lounger and you just sit up there and look out, you know. But we did go to the pool a few times, but it was great on embarcation day because there wasn't anybody up there.
[00:17:22] Speaker B: No.
[00:17:22] Speaker C: Yeah. Now, what about activities on board? Of course, we've talked about a lot of. There's a lot of cool adult only activities actually on the Destiny. And this was your first time sailing on the Destiny. And you know, did you guys take advantage of going to those activities? I mean, it's a little bit of, you know, rope drop culture and queuing like you have at the park that unfortunately has seeped into Disney Cruise Line, particularly on the Destiny.
But some of those activities are really good. And so did you guys go like for example, Dr. Facilier's parlor or the Maleficent show or Cruella Deville Show. What is it called? I can't even remember. But in the piano bar.
Troublemaking. Thank you.
[00:18:08] Speaker D: No, we did not. Every time we went by Dr. Facilier's parlor, the line was just crazy long. And because we had booked so many things, we didn't have a whole lot of time to spend in line. And I prioritized standing in line for the shows. So we didn't do those. But I really want to hopefully next time if we go again, do that and do Crells. What we did do that was adult only. I mean, we did like the Loki show, but that wasn't adults Only.
We did the. We did go to Saga for the Elixir.
She was fantastic. And then with Great Power show, which I loved.
[00:18:44] Speaker B: It was okay.
[00:18:45] Speaker C: What did you think, Dan? Oh, it's just okay.
[00:18:49] Speaker B: It was all right. I mean, you know, they were really good. Yeah, yeah. It was decent. It was decent.
[00:18:55] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:18:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:56] Speaker D: And I'm trying to think any other. Oh, we did go to Match youh Mate.
[00:18:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:18:59] Speaker D: Because we had never been. Oh, fun. Any of those. So that was fun.
[00:19:03] Speaker C: Yeah. That's one of those things where when you're sailing, adults only is easy to go a Lot harder when you're sailing with your kids, especially when they're younger, because it doesn't start until like, 10:30 at night and usually goes till like 11:30 at night. And so it's one of those things where you really have to sort of choose your. Choose your battles as to what you can do when you're sailing, you know, with your kids in particular. What about some of the other events on board? Some of the. The family friendly events. But obviously the two of you went without sailing with your kids.
[00:19:34] Speaker D: So we saw the Loki show. That was fun. And then we bumped into him right after. So that was the one and only character encounter that we had. But he was fun. We also saw the. The Sounds of Wakanda. Yeah, we made it to that one. That was really good. You enjoyed it?
[00:19:52] Speaker B: Yeah, that was very good. That was excellent.
[00:19:54] Speaker D: Like, I wanted to go to, like, the Princess and the Frog and all, but, like, it just conflicted. A lot of them just conflicted with. But I think that was it.
[00:20:03] Speaker B: Well, you did the trivia.
[00:20:04] Speaker D: Yeah, but those aren't, like, shows.
[00:20:06] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, okay, gotcha.
[00:20:08] Speaker C: But other activities. Yeah. So what other activities did you guys do on board? Yeah, trivias.
[00:20:13] Speaker D: A couple trivias.
[00:20:14] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:20:15] Speaker D: That might have been it.
Right?
[00:20:17] Speaker A: We did.
[00:20:19] Speaker B: We did do the. The drawing thing.
[00:20:21] Speaker D: Oh, we did a drawing class.
You have to do a drawing class.
[00:20:26] Speaker C: Absolutely. Absolutely. I feel like that's. Yeah, that's the thing that's gonna draw. If you're trying to convince Dan to go on Disney Cruise Line more, you gotta cater to his activities, Amy. Absolutely.
[00:20:37] Speaker D: Got it.
[00:20:37] Speaker C: How were the drink. Yeah, how were the drink tastings that you guys ended up doing?
[00:20:42] Speaker D: The drink tastings were amazing.
We did a champagne tasting was before the mustard drill, even.
So that made the mustard drill really fun. That was really.
Yeah, that was a great one.
[00:20:55] Speaker B: And he was really good.
[00:20:56] Speaker D: He was really good.
[00:20:57] Speaker B: He was excellent. Yeah.
[00:20:58] Speaker D: And except when my husband. He was talking about. What was he talking about? Michelob.
[00:21:03] Speaker B: Oh, he was. Yeah, he was talking about how Michelob ended up getting in trouble for saying that it's the champagne of beers.
[00:21:09] Speaker D: And he just kept saying it was a champagne of beers. It was. It was a thing.
But it was a lot of fun. And of course, he remembered us after that.
[00:21:18] Speaker B: Yeah, he appreciated it.
[00:21:19] Speaker C: Of course.
[00:21:19] Speaker B: Definitely appreciate it.
[00:21:23] Speaker C: And then I think the drink tastings are such a great way to get to know your bar staff though, too, because they end up being the ones who teach you. And then if you go to whatever bar they're working at, and obviously you made, like a connection with that person by just joking around about the champagne of beers. Then the next time you go to the, you know, they're going to sort of pay that special attention to you and, like, ask you what your favorite drink is or make their favorite, you know, their favorite cocktail for you or things like that. I think that's always, like, a great start to any sort of relationship with the cast. It really helps. What about some of the other? The other. I think you said mixology. And what was the other one?
[00:22:00] Speaker D: Rum tasting. So the rum tasting was right on the. Was right on castaway key. So that was really kind of cool.
[00:22:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:08] Speaker D: Dehydration and rum tasting, for me, anyway, wasn't a good mix. I'm not much of a drinker, believe it or not.
So, you know, it was. It was interesting. It was fun. It was a lot of fun. And that was cool because it was just like, on the island, like, it couldn't be more perfect. It was Pirate night. Not that we went to Pirate night, but, you know, it just. It was perfect. It was. The timing was great. Our favorite was probably the mixology, though. Yeah, yeah. He was really funny. And the bartender, I can't remember his name, he was fantastic. And he made, like, a lot of really cool, approachable drinks that, you know, we could recreate at home. And we actually got to make our own mojito, which I was shocked. I didn't think that we'd get to do anything. I thought we would just sit there in Deville's and watch him mix drinks. So that was really cool that we got to go up and muddle our own, you know, and make our own mojito. That was probably our favorite.
[00:23:00] Speaker B: I think so. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:23:02] Speaker D: So if we. If we went again, we wouldn't do as many drink tastings, but we'd definitely do that one again.
[00:23:05] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, I would. Yeah, absolutely.
[00:23:07] Speaker D: Yeah, that one was great.
[00:23:08] Speaker C: Love that. Yeah. I have noticed that across, there's some inconsistency as to whether or not you are allowed to, you know, make a drink or mix a drink or whatever. And it is depends on the bartender. Most of the drink tastings are just tastings where you're not involved in the making.
But some, you know, we're hearing occasionally, like, your experience, you might be involved in mixing one of the drinks or muddling the mint and the lime for, you know, a mojito, for example. Yeah, yeah. And we got a lot of fun.
[00:23:40] Speaker D: It was fun. And then we recreated it at home a couple times. Which is fun.
[00:23:44] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:23:44] Speaker D: So it was neat.
[00:23:46] Speaker C: Oh, that's awesome. I love that. Now you mentioned the shows. You mentioned waiting, you know, queuing up early for. For the shows on the Destiny, we of course know that Hercules is the most. Because it's the newest. It's going to be the one that you probably have to wait the longest for.
And I just want to be clear. You don't have to go there an hour before if you don't care what seat you are in. If you. You can probably go 20 minutes before if you don't care what seat you're in. But if you want to get a seat, the particular location, you know, center, anywhere near the front, that sort of a thing, then yeah, you've got to go early.
Particularly for Hercules and even the other. The other two shows you have, you know, on the early side, I would say.
What was your experience? Like, how early did you go and then where did you kind of end up sitting in the theater?
[00:24:39] Speaker D: So for Seize the Adventure, we. We didn't go very early because we. We weren't as fussy about where we sat. So probably about 20 minutes early. And we ended up up in the mezzanine. But we had pretty good seats.
[00:24:50] Speaker B: They were still pretty good.
[00:24:51] Speaker D: They were pretty good. Not bad. And then for the day, we saw Oil Frozen. We had lined up probably maybe an hour ahead of time. Yeah, I didn't want to be too far down because I'm short and I can never see.
So I wanted to be raised a little bit and so. But we got really good seeds. Like we were happy with where we were for Frozen and that was just. I was incredible. I had never seen Frozen on the ship, so that was awesome. And then for Hercules, I really wanted to go to the matinee and the evening performance, but we were at Enchante and we were going to be late for the matinee performance, but we happened to just walk by the theater and I could hear Trent the.
[00:25:36] Speaker B: Yeah, the cruise.
[00:25:37] Speaker D: Cruise director talking. Oh, it hasn't started yet. So we quick ran in there and we have horrible seats. We're like behind poles. But I didn't care we were in there. And so we did get to see Hercules twice.
But the second time we saw it at 8:30. We did line up like an hour ahead of time and we had good seats for that one. Yeah, they had some. I guess they had some technical difficulties where they delayed the show.
And then it did say stop. Gosh, once or twice during the show as well. And it stopped once at night. So it does take you out of it a little bit, but it didn't matter. I still loved it.
[00:26:13] Speaker C: Yeah. And I, I think that's like a, a great tip, though. Like, if you can make it into the show and you don't care where you're sitting, like, just get into the theater. Right. Like. And I'm surprised you guys made it from Enchante, because it's a long meal, of course. Like, that's the one thing we try and tell people. Like, Enchante, especially more than. And same with Remy, more than Paulo. It's a very long course out meal. And so that's, you know, several hour experience. And so if there's something else you want to do, you might not be able to make that other thing. And so you got to sort of choose your, you know, prioritize what you're going to do. Because you can't do everything as you learned, Amy. You can't do everything on the ship. It's just not possible, especially not in four days. I don't think you can do it all in five days. I think to do everything on the Destiny, I think I still missed a couple of things. And we did three different sailings, like a three night, a four night, and a four night. And I still feel like there was a couple things that I didn't, you know, that I didn't do.
And I didn't do a single drink tasting on those sailings either. So, like, so it's a, you know, but that wasn't, but I wasn't my priority to do a drink tasting. I, you know, I, I, we've done some on some of the other ships, so I was like, I don't need to do that on, on the Dest.
I'd love to talk about the private islands. Of course, you got to go to both Castaway and Lookout. Now, you'd been to Castaway before, I take it, but probably not Lookout.
[00:27:39] Speaker D: Yes. It was our first time to Lookout, and it was gorgeous. It was like, we didn't mind. The walk of the pier was totally fine, but the lines to get on the. It was just, it was a lot like, it was really, really long lines to get on the tram to get to Lookout.
Like, it was, it was a process to get there, but once we got there, it was totally worth it. It's gorgeous.
[00:28:04] Speaker B: I feel like they didn't have all the trans running, though.
[00:28:07] Speaker D: I don't know. It was, it was just, it was a little chaotic. Like, there was no real line. So, like, you had people coming from behind and going in front, and it was just, you know, and we didn't care. We're. We're on island time. It was fine, but it was just kind of a little.
It was a little chaotic. It could have been a little more organized.
[00:28:24] Speaker C: The tram drivers are local Bahamians and they operate on island time for sure, so that's definitely a thing.
And there is not an organized line for getting on the trams. It's just like, as you mentioned, chaos. So, like, if you want to get on the next tram, move up to the front, like, and don't let people in front of you, like, throw some elbows, I guess. I don't know, be nice about it, but, you know, I'm joking, I'm joking, I'm joking, I'm joking. Just it just me. I just mean, like, put, you know, get yourself up. If you get there, you know, make your way towards, like, where the tram. Where the line is for the. For the tram. When I say line, I mean the line.
You don't want to cross over it because you don't want to get hit by the tram. But, like, yeah, where there is a line on the floor that shows you sort of where to stand behind. All right, well, so your first experience to. To look out. Your repeat experience, to cast away. Do you have a favorite between the two?
[00:29:22] Speaker D: Ooh, that's hard. And it was our first time doing Seren day at either, so that was nice, too.
[00:29:27] Speaker C: Oh, yeah.
[00:29:28] Speaker D: We barely saw any children, believe it or not, the entire cruise.
Did you have a favorite?
[00:29:34] Speaker B: Well, I mean, I think. I think, you know, beach wise, I think Lookout was really, really, really nice.
I enjoyed that only because, too. Because we've been to the other one as well.
[00:29:45] Speaker D: Yeah, but the other one is so, like, I don't know, comfortable, like easy.
[00:29:49] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:29:50] Speaker D: You know, so.
[00:29:50] Speaker B: But I didn't. I mean, it was worth the. The walk.
[00:29:53] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:29:54] Speaker B: Off the pier was worth that beach for sure.
[00:29:57] Speaker D: It was beautiful. I think if it was a choice, I probably would rather go to Lookout, but I'd be happy at either. I love them both.
[00:30:04] Speaker B: I'd rather go to Lookout.
[00:30:07] Speaker D: Good to know.
[00:30:08] Speaker C: Yeah. There you go. For your next cruise. Amy, now you. You mentioned going to Serenity Bay. You hadn't been to Serenity Bay at Castaway before, even though you'd been to Castaway. What did you think of the beach there? Of course, it's very. It's different than the family beach. It's more. I'll call it steep and sort of slope. You know, there's not as much Beach. It's not as. As long of a beach and it's a bit further away. Of course, you take the trams or you can walk it. I mean, you can absolutely walk it. People do the 5K. That's, you know, it's less than the full 5K, but it's hot. You're walking on, you know, what was an airstrip? How was, you know, how did you feel about the walk there and how did you feel about the beach there?
[00:30:48] Speaker D: I thought it was fine. We took the. The tram, the second tram to get there.
I mean, we did have to walk a ways down the beach in order to get, like, tears we wanted.
[00:30:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:30:58] Speaker D: But I really didn't think it was bad.
[00:31:00] Speaker B: The slope that you're talking about, it wasn't that. That even. That wasn't too bad.
[00:31:06] Speaker C: Yeah. What did you think about the food on the two islands? Of course, you've got, like, you got new food experience at Serenity because it's the. The new hangar over there. And then, of course, to look out. It's. I mean, it's all newish. Right. This was still. It's a couple years old now, but. Yeah. What did you think of the food options and food quality on the island as compared to, like, what you get on the ship?
[00:31:28] Speaker B: I thought it was good.
[00:31:29] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:31:30] Speaker B: I think they had plenty of options. And I liked.
[00:31:33] Speaker D: The spicy chicken sandwich was on both.
[00:31:35] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:31:36] Speaker D: We couldn't find. And I don't know if that was just us. Any rice dishes at Lookout? Believe it or not, but we did find rice dishes at Castaway like that. Like seafood.
[00:31:46] Speaker B: Is that where they had the jambalaya?
[00:31:48] Speaker D: Yes, that was a castaway. Yeah.
[00:31:50] Speaker B: Yeah, that was really good.
[00:31:51] Speaker D: Which was. Yeah, it was really good. But both were really good.
[00:31:54] Speaker B: I. I was impressed, too.
[00:31:55] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:31:55] Speaker B: With the food there. Yeah. And they had a little bit everything, too. So, I mean, you definitely had plenty to choose from, for sure.
[00:32:02] Speaker C: I'm surprised you didn't see the. The jambalaya dishes at Lookout. I wonder if they were just like at the far ends or something, if you just missed them or maybe they didn't have them or, you know, that's always, you know, a thing that you, you know, you don't know necessarily where the. Where it's set up. And I will say at Lookout, I feel like they've changed the setup, the food setup multiple times. And so I don't even know what to tell people anymore as to, like, because it's. They have gone through so many iterations of how they set up the food there. It Just seems to, yeah, not be consistent from cruise to cruise. And maybe that's just because each ship is doing it slightly different as well.

[00:33:43] Speaker E: We do travel, right? The crew that handles the planning so you can focus on relaxing
[00:33:50] Speaker C: now jumping back onto the ship. Now this was of course your first experience with main dining on the wish class. So your first experience with 1923 with Worlds of Marvel and of course the crown jewel Pride Lands. I gotta ask what you thought of the idea of like sort of this is more dinner show than are on the other classes of ship. Although of course on the magic and the wonder you have, you know, Rapunzel and Tiana's that are very interactive and you do have animators palette. But it's a little bit more of, you know, screen based.
I'm curious what you guys thought of the show experience in, you know, especially as adults, like in Marvel for example. It's a less. I mean the show is not as intrusive as the other worlds of Marvel show, the one you saw which is Groot and Rocket. But I'm curious if you like were you actually entertained by it? Were you just kind of. Was it in the background?
[00:34:51] Speaker D: I really enjoyed it. So the. Cause it was the trivia, right? That was the one with the trivia and yeah, that was really fun.
[00:34:58] Speaker B: It was fun.
[00:34:58] Speaker D: We.
It's funny because we've always just request a Private table. But I had heard on the show that, you know, it was happening less and less, like, if you're a couple.
So I prepared him. We're probably going to be sitting with other people.
And we did. He had another couple and he knew a lot of answers. So that worked out well for the trivia.
But, yeah, we enjoyed that. We enjoyed the food there as well.
[00:35:23] Speaker B: Yeah, I thought the food was pretty good.
[00:35:26] Speaker D: And then in 1923, I think we really enjoyed that. We were in the Walt Disney Room. You like all the.
[00:35:34] Speaker B: Yeah, a lot of it was nostalgic and like, you know, the older sketches and all that. Yeah, that was really cool because we, after we ate, we walked around a little bit, so I can kind of see some of that stuff. And I really like that. That was nice.
[00:35:48] Speaker D: Yeah. But I would say our favorite was definitely Pridelands. I mean, the show itself, the music was awesome. The performers were awesome. We weren't anywhere near them.
[00:35:57] Speaker B: No, we didn't have a great seat. But, yeah, it was a good show.
[00:36:02] Speaker D: But, like, it was more important to hear them, not to see them. Yeah, I feel. So we could definitely hear them.
I thought they were fantastic, but the food in there was fantastic. Like, I like, food was very good. Yeah, Yeah. I had the, the Peri Perry shrimp and the shrimp curry. Oh, my God, I, I was so full, I couldn't eat my dessert, so she sent it with me to go. Like, I took it back to the room.
[00:36:27] Speaker C: I, I, I'm still dreaming of that shrimp curry. Like, I literally, I'm like, as we're talking about it now, like, my mouth is salivating because I, I like the, the chicken appetizer better than the Peri Perry shrimp. I did have that, and it was good, but it was like, the chicken skewer appetizer that had apricot is so good, but the, but gosh, that shrimp curry, I, I literally, I'm, I'm still dreaming about that shrimp curry. I would eat it, like, maybe not every day. I'd eat it, like, once a week at home if I could. For sure.
[00:36:59] Speaker D: I'm, I'm right there with you. Yes. For sure.
[00:37:01] Speaker C: Yeah. I love that.
I, I gotta ask about art. You know, Dan, you're an artist, and I, I think that the, the destiny, the treasure, the wish, they are in my mind, like museums. Like, I don't know how you felt walking around the ship, but I feel like every detail, whether it's like a carpet, a light fixture, a pie piece on the wall, like, did you just have a field day? Going around.
[00:37:32] Speaker B: I mean. I mean, a lot of times we would just take the stairs so I can see the paintings going up and down.
But. And I thought that what I could appreciate as well is I didn't see one that was the same. There were a lot of different types of media, a lot of different types of art.
I love the fact that they had a lot of older Disney characters and some of the art I love. The one was. Was the. Remember the Mickey. It moved around.
[00:38:02] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, yeah.
[00:38:03] Speaker B: That was amazing. Yeah, it was just. It was really.
[00:38:05] Speaker C: That Steamboat Willie one. Right. The big Steamboat Willie, kind of in between 1923. Is it? That's a fantastic, like mixed media piece.
[00:38:14] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean. And like you're saying, I mean, you could.
You could walk around and just look at the paintings. I. I like. If we had a little bit more time, I would have liked to just done that.
[00:38:25] Speaker D: Or if we go back.
[00:38:26] Speaker C: Yeah, she keeps saying it. I noticed she's telegraphing something here. Dan, I'm not sure if you've noticed. I also love the. There's like two pieces of artwork, I think two that are made of moss. One is the one that's the Marceline Market sign. And then I believe there might. I think there's another one or I'm thinking on the treasure, because there's one that. That's Te Fiti, anyway. But I love the. I just love that medium. I love that they made moss, like a painting out of moss. And it's so you can go and smell it and touch it and it's like cool textures and stuff.
[00:39:00] Speaker B: It's.
[00:39:01] Speaker C: It's just incredible.
[00:39:02] Speaker D: Yeah, we did the imaginary ship's tour so that we got to hear a lot more about the art and.
[00:39:08] Speaker C: Yeah, I was going to ask you that because I was going to say this would be right up your alley, like, I feel. So for those who don't know, there is a tour that is adult only on the ship called Imagineering the Wish, Imagineering the Treasure, Imagineering the Destiny. It's called the Art of the Theme Ship tour on the classic ships, on the first four ships. And you can sign up for it in the app as soon as you board it will. And there'll be multiple times throughout the cruise that it's done, but you've got to reserve a spot for it and they'll tell you where you're meeting and all of that. It's free, but it does book up usually, like the first day or maybe the second day of the cruise. All the slots will be Booked up. And it's a fantastic tour of the ship that tells you about some of the imagineering choices.
Some of the carpet choices, for example, or the. Or a painting choice or what you know, or. Or the. You'll learn about why the ship hull is Monica blue and why the lifeboats are yellow instead of orange like on other cruise ships. So depending upon who your tour guide is, you'll hear different things, but they're really fantastic. Even if you're. Whether you're an artist or you're just interested in engineering, art, whatever, design, it's really. I highly, highly recommend, but it is adult only, so definitely something to do on board. What are the. What other stuff did you guys get up to on board? You had a lot of stuff booked ahead of time. Actually, I've got to ask you about. I know exactly where I want to go. I got to ask you about Paulo and Enchante because it's the perfect time to do Paolo and Enchante when you're sailing without your children. I'm not saying you can't do it when you have your children on board, but, like, if they're younger and they're not kids, club kids, that's a lot of time to kind of leave them on their own. And for some people, for us, we trust Nathan. He's great. On his own for several hours. He doesn't want to hang with us anyway. He's in Edge, the tween club. Like, he's like, see ya. Peace out.
Yeah. How was. I gotta ask first. How was Enchante Brunch?
[00:41:06] Speaker D: Enchantee was incredible.
[00:41:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:41:08] Speaker C: Right?
[00:41:09] Speaker B: Yeah, it really. It was quite the experience.
[00:41:11] Speaker D: Yeah, we're. We're adventurous eaters, so, like, I knew that would be, you know, like, awesome, but, like, it was just a different level of service. Like, it was incredible.
[00:41:20] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:41:21] Speaker D: And like, you wouldn't think, like, they come out with these little teeny tiny, you know, things for you to eat, and you're like, I'm never going to be full. But, oh, my gosh, we were dying by the end.
[00:41:30] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was really full at the end. But I. I think they did a fantastic job of explaining what the Dissers were, why that the. The chef created them and, like, you kind of get into his artistic culinary talents and you get to see that throughout the meal.
[00:41:50] Speaker C: Yeah. What were some of your favorites there?
[00:41:52] Speaker D: That whole tomato course. I don't even look tomatoes.
But, like, he tried to take my tomato water and I'm like, no, no, that needs to stay. I need to finish that. And that little ball thing that, like, you dip in the. He said it was like, the fanciest ketchup I'd ever see. And I wouldn't even call it ketchup, but you, you dip that little. Oh, my gosh. That was incredible. Yeah, I think those were some of my favorites. Favorites. Would you like?
[00:42:18] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, I liked everything. I mean, there was, I mean, the one, there was one that was a little skeptical on, I didn't care for, but everything else was amazing, and it was absolutely gorgeous the way that they presented it as well.
[00:42:32] Speaker D: Yeah, everything was beautiful.
[00:42:33] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:42:34] Speaker C: But I, I, I love that you, I love that you love the tomato water, because that was my favorite thing the last time, actually, the last couple times we've gone to, like, either Remy or Enchante that tomato course in general. And I like tomat, but I didn't think I like tomatoes that much. And, like, the idea of tomato water is just kind of strange. But it's amazing. It's incredible. I love, I love that. What about Paulo? You went for Paulo dinner. You mentioned going on pirate night, which, of course is a great option because then you don't miss a night. I, I know that there are people who really like the, the pirate menu, and there are people who really love, like, the pirate deck party and the fireworks, which are actually really great on the wish class.
But if you are, you know, don't want to miss a regular rotational dining, it is really, you know, a good option to do adult dining on pirate night. Did you get to go to any of the pirate night festivities? Like, did you make it to the deck party or anything?
[00:43:33] Speaker D: We didn't.
[00:43:34] Speaker B: No. We walked through it because we were walking around, but we didn't really.
[00:43:38] Speaker D: No. And I honestly, we probably could have made the fireworks, but we, we, we just didn't.
I don't remember why we didn't, but, like, I think we felt like we've seen, I mean, you know, not that it's not fun to see fireworks at sea. It totally is, and I would have loved to have seen it, but I don't remember why we didn't. But we've, we'd seen him before, so it wasn't, like, a must do for us, but.
[00:44:00] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:44:01] Speaker D: But Paolo was just. Was our first time, so we were very excited.
The agnolotti.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my. That was like. That was. I honestly, I think if we went back or when we go back, I would just get that and a souffle, and I could just be happy. It Was just so fun.
[00:44:23] Speaker C: Get the calamari and shrimp appetizer, too, because that's worth it, too.
[00:44:27] Speaker D: Yeah, So I had him. One interesting thing.
He likes to complain that I didn't give him a choice, but I did. I did. I promise I did.
[00:44:36] Speaker B: I was told what to get, but yeah.
[00:44:39] Speaker C: Yeah, I had him.
As it should.
[00:44:42] Speaker D: I had him get the price fix menu because, you know, we wanted to try all those different things, and I. He wanted the steak anyway, so it was perfect.
But he has a lot of problems. It's not an allergy necessarily, more of a. Like, a severe sensitivity to onions and garlic.
And he mentioned this to the server.
She was just phenomenal.
[00:45:05] Speaker B: Yeah, she's great.
[00:45:06] Speaker D: So she was like, I'll take care of you, no problem, in her French accent. And. And she made sure. So he didn't get. He got the calamari, but he did.
They couldn't put the breading on it because I guess the breading has onions and garlic in it. So they grilled it for him. Yeah, but that was, like, his favorite thing.
[00:45:24] Speaker B: That was. It was great. It was great. Yeah.
[00:45:27] Speaker D: And like, the.
[00:45:27] Speaker C: The amuse. I think that would be.
Oh, a different one. Yeah. Because that one has. Yeah, it's like, you know, like a mushroom sauce, but it's probably the. Probably again, the breading is probably heavy in garlic and whatnot.
I love that they grilled the calamari for you. I think that's a. I mean, I like fried calamari, but I also like grilled calamari. I feel like that would be awesome.
[00:45:51] Speaker B: It was cooked perfectly, too. I mean, it wasn't chewy at all. It was fantastic.
[00:45:56] Speaker D: I was good.
[00:45:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:45:58] Speaker C: I think it's a great option, though, for one person. If you're. If you're two people eating at Paulo for dinner, I think it's a great option if somebody is choosing.
This is actually what we do. Dan. I'm not.
[00:46:10] Speaker D: I'm.
[00:46:10] Speaker C: I'm. I'm not just, like, blowing smoke up Amy. I. I like Brian, and I do this. I order the price fixed menu because I want the steak anyway. That's my. That's my chosen, like, dinner dish at Paulo. Unless we're going to do that porterhouse that you.
Which we've done a couple of times. But generally speaking, I'm going to do the beef tenderloin regardless. And so then what we'll do is I get the price fix, and it comes with, you know, the salad. It comes with either the, like, caprese or.
Or the calamari. And shrimp. And then it comes with a dessert, which is chocolate souffle for most people. For me, I go for. I ask for. To submit an amaretto souffle. And they have never refused me, even though technically they're not supposed to. But. Yeah. And then we share like those appetizer courses, and then Brian just orders like a pasta and a main and that's it. And so then we. Yeah, we just share like everything except mains. We don't share those because we like. He'll eat like Dover sole or osso buco. I eat steak. I don't, I don't do. I don't. I don't mess with those other ones.
But I think it's a great. Yeah, I think it's a great option to do it that way. Or. I mean, there are a lot of people who both order price fix, but that's actually a lot of food. I'd actually, I would actually recommend against it. Yeah.
[00:47:34] Speaker B: Yeah. And I thought that the price fix. They gave you a lot of food that. What came out. Yeah.
I couldn't even finish the steak because of how much food there was.
[00:47:44] Speaker D: Yeah. And I had done. I did the agnolotti, which I ate the entire thing of because it was just so good. I had no self control. And then I did a second pasta course for my main course, I did the pepperdell with the lobster, which was very good, but I just couldn't even eat that much. And we were gonna do another dessert besides the chocolate souffle, which I had to try the chocolate one first. Next time we'll get the other one. You really wanted the tiramisu, but we just couldn't do it. We couldn't do it. We were too full up. So next time.
[00:48:12] Speaker C: It's so much. It's so, so, so much food. I will say so. I love the amaretto souffle, but that's because I don't really love sweets. And the. So that if you, if you really like the chocolate souffle because you. And you have a sweet tooth, I'd say stick with the chocolate souffle. But if you're like me and you aren't really a sweets person, the amaretto souffle is, Is, Is excellent. But I know Brian would always choose chocolate souffle. Or actually he'll choose that carrot cake. The carrot cake on the Palo dinner menu is
[00:48:43] Speaker A: probably.
[00:48:44] Speaker C: Yeah, probably like the best carrot cake on Disney Cruise Line. Right, Brian?
[00:48:50] Speaker A: Yeah, I. I mean, one. Certainly. It has to be one of the best, if not the best yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:48:56] Speaker C: Now is there anything we've missed? We talked private islands, we've talked food. I mean there's always more to talk about with food.
We've talked shows, we've talked some onboard activities and we've talked about some, some drink tasting things. Were you disappointed there's not a lot of Star wars on this ship, Dan?
[00:49:14] Speaker B: No, no, I, I, I appreciated the, the Wakanda. Yeah. The thing, the, like I said, the drumming was really cool and like the Marvel stuff. Yeah, yeah, the Marvel stuff I liked a lot. I really liked all the, the theme with what was the bar? The.
[00:49:31] Speaker D: Oh yeah, no, Haunted Mansion Parlor or the, no, the Kasting Cannon.
[00:49:38] Speaker B: Well, that was good too.
[00:49:38] Speaker C: But oh, the Pirates of the Caribbean.
[00:49:40] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. But the, oh, the Dr.
[00:49:42] Speaker D: Strange sanctum.
[00:49:44] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, that was.
[00:49:44] Speaker C: Oh, the sanctum. Yeah, yeah.
[00:49:47] Speaker D: So we made it a point to go in all these spaces, but because we had the drink tastings, we didn't have drinks in all of them because it just wasn't possible. I would have been in bed.
But we did make a point to go in all of them.
[00:49:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:49:59] Speaker D: Next time I think we would prioritize maybe going in each and getting a drink and not doing.
[00:50:03] Speaker B: But we did get a chance to go in the Haunted Mansion Parlor and that atmosphere was really, really cool. And same thing with the cast and cannon.
Yeah, yeah.
[00:50:13] Speaker D: And we did get a drink in Haunted Mansion Parlor and I was shocked because I was expecting it to be really, really sweet from everything I'd heard. But it was very vodka forward, I thought. Yeah, it was very good actually.
[00:50:26] Speaker B: And I like the presentation in the cast and canon. What we got came in the treasure chest.
[00:50:30] Speaker D: Yeah, we got the one with the treasure chest.
[00:50:31] Speaker C: Oh, I love that drink.
[00:50:33] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was fun.
[00:50:35] Speaker D: Yeah, so that was fun.
[00:50:36] Speaker C: That is fun. That two person drink. I, what is it called? Deadman's Chest or something like that?
Yeah, yeah, we love that, we love that one too. That was probably my favorite in Casking Cannon. I think there was a different one that Brian preferred there, but we both, we both enjoyed that one as well. Yeah. Well, Brian, do you think it's that time?
[00:50:55] Speaker A: Well, I, I, I like, I want to ask a couple questions here since we've covered the trip report, which is I, I, I guess maybe really one question, like, so Dan, are you hooked? Like the goal is to hook you. Are you hooked?
[00:51:06] Speaker B: I mean, I, I would say yeah, yes. You know what I mean? I mean I, I would certainly go on a Disney cruise instead of like, you know, Royal Caribbean or something like that, because I just think that they have a lot to offer. She really likes it, you know, And I, I, again, I appreciate the art aspect of it, you know, in like, the Marvel and Star wars stuff. So, yeah, I enjoy it.
[00:51:33] Speaker D: You heard him. Your witnesses.
[00:51:34] Speaker C: Yeah, your witnesses. It's recorded.
Yeah.
[00:51:40] Speaker A: If ever there's a question, just return to episode, whatever number this is, and there you got it.
[00:51:44] Speaker D: Thank you for asking.
[00:51:45] Speaker A: Well, okay.
[00:51:48] Speaker C: Exactly.
[00:51:49] Speaker A: All right. I'll be back at the end to see if you've. If you've made good on this and, you know, you've got something else booked. But for now, I got to hand you back over to Sam for some arbitrary questions, some arbitrary rules. Rules and a dash of judgment or the round we know as rapid fire. Sam, take it away.
[00:52:03] Speaker C: All right, you guys, I told you this was coming. You are going to give me some Disney favorites and some Disney Cruise Line favorites. And when I asked for Disney Cruise Line favorites, it can be any ship that you've been on, any space you've been on, on the ships. Right. So if I ask you favorite rotational dining restaurant, it doesn't have to be from the Disney Destiny. It could be one on the Disney Dream. As long as it's been. It's one that you've been to.
And then I'm going to ask you Disney favorites.
I'm talking every IP that Disney knows or Disney owns. Sorry. So, Dan, that means you can choose from the Star wars universe, you can choose from the Marvel universe, you can choose from live action movies, all that stuff. Okay, so we're going to start with who is your favorite Disney character?
Amy, I'm going to hit you first.
[00:52:50] Speaker D: I would have to say probably Mickey Mouse or the Mickey Mouse theme themed classroom. I love Nikki.
[00:52:56] Speaker C: Love it. Dan, who's your favorite Disney character?
[00:52:59] Speaker B: Okay. It's going to be the fox from Robin Hood.
[00:53:02] Speaker C: Oh, I love that. I thought we were going to hear, like, Darth Vader or something, but I love that you picked.
[00:53:07] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:53:09] Speaker D: He likes the old.
[00:53:10] Speaker C: All right. Yeah, yeah. All right. Favorite Disney movie, Dan?
[00:53:16] Speaker B: Favorite Disney movie. Wow.
It again. I.
Between Robin Hood and the Pirates of the Caribbean, you know, series for sure.
[00:53:30] Speaker C: Love it. Awesome.
[00:53:32] Speaker D: Amy. There's so many. I would probably. The one I probably put on the most would be Mulan. I love Mulan.
[00:53:38] Speaker C: Love Mulan. Yeah. All right. Favorite Disney song, Amy.
Oh, gosh.
[00:53:44] Speaker D: Okay, don't laugh.
So I love Happily Ever After. Like, I listen to that song way more than any adult should.
I love that song. But if I had to pick one from a movie. Probably, like, go the distance from Hercules or out there, like one of those. I love those.
[00:54:02] Speaker C: All awesome choices, but you absolutely can pick a park song. You don't have a firework song. You don't have to pick a movie song. Happily Ever after is a valid answer in my rapid fire there. All right, Dan, your. Your decision. Your favorite Disney song, it would probably be.
[00:54:21] Speaker B: What's the one from the roller coaster from Leo and Stitch.
[00:54:25] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. Hawaii.
Oh, I love this. That's a great. Now, I'm gonna have that stuck in my head today, by the way.
All right, we're gonna move on to Disney Cruise Line. Favorite stage show on Disney Cruise Line, meaning one of their main stage shows in the Walt Disney Theater, Not a variety act. Dan, which one is your favorite again? Could be from any of the cruises you've been on.
[00:54:52] Speaker B: I don't know which cruise it was, but the Aladdin show was. I thought, was excellent.
[00:54:57] Speaker C: All right, Amy.
[00:54:59] Speaker D: Okay.
I would probably have to say Hercules. Even with the technical problems, the muses were just fantastic. Oh, and by the way, I totally agree with what y' all said about the Hercules. He was fantastic, but it's just not the role for him.
But he was still fantastic. He was still great. Yeah. So Hercules means my answer.
[00:55:21] Speaker C: All right, well, moving over to dining. Favorite rotational dining. Amy.
[00:55:27] Speaker D: Pridelands, hands down. I loved everything about it. The show, the environment, the food. Oh, it's great.
[00:55:35] Speaker B: Animator's palette.
[00:55:36] Speaker C: Yeah, I like the classic choice. Very nice. Yeah.
Also just like, you know, Mickey and drawing and all, you know, it's. It's an artist's dream. All right, food. We're going to head over to Food and Talk. A favorite sweet item on a Disney cruise and a favorite savory item on a Disney cruise. We start with the sweets, because I like the savories and the savories we save for last.
So, Dan, favorite sweet item?
[00:56:04] Speaker B: Honestly, probably the banana ice cream.
[00:56:07] Speaker D: The soft serve.
[00:56:08] Speaker C: Yeah. Yes.
Yes. That is a. That is the right answer, Dan. That is the right answer. You've. You've just won rapid fire with that answer. Amy, what about you?
[00:56:18] Speaker D: I would probably have to say. I mean, I know it's not technically a dessert, but the Mickey Churro waffles, They're so good.
[00:56:24] Speaker C: Yeah, it's a sweet.
[00:56:26] Speaker D: We were going to enchante.
[00:56:28] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:56:29] Speaker D: So I ate, like, one and a half, but then I took some back to the room so that I could pick at them later because I just had to add to.
[00:56:37] Speaker C: I love that. I love that. Yeah, I always, I feel like it's always ends up being on our Palo brunch day that they end up having churro waffles and. And so I might like bite an ear off or something just to get the taste, but then I. Yeah, because I'm like saving myself for all that delicious Italian food.
All right, well, favorite savory item. Amy, we'll start with you.
[00:56:56] Speaker D: I think I have to go with the agnolotti. That was just like the best thing. I loved it.
[00:57:01] Speaker C: Dan, what about you?
[00:57:02] Speaker B: I'm gonna have to go with the beef tenderloin there from Paulo. That was incredible.
[00:57:07] Speaker D: It was really good.
[00:57:07] Speaker C: Love it.
[00:57:08] Speaker A: Awesome.
[00:57:09] Speaker B: Very good.
Yeah.
[00:57:10] Speaker C: All right. This is a controversial question because some people choose a newer ship, some people choose an older ship. But if you tomorrow could go on any ship, which one are you going on? What's your favorite ship? Amy, let's start with you.
[00:57:25] Speaker D: My favorite is definitely the Destiny. I loved it.
[00:57:28] Speaker C: Dan, what about you?
[00:57:29] Speaker B: I'd probably have to say the Destiny as well. I mean, I really like the Treasure.
[00:57:33] Speaker D: You haven't been on the Treasure.
[00:57:34] Speaker B: No. Which one do we go on?
[00:57:37] Speaker D: You've been on the Dream and the Fantasy.
[00:57:40] Speaker B: It was a dream.
[00:57:40] Speaker D: The Dream you like?
[00:57:41] Speaker B: Yeah, I like the Dream, but I. But I. I like the Destiny, though. Yeah.
[00:57:46] Speaker C: Awesome. Love it. All right, your bucket list cruise, maybe you should go on the Treasure, but it's a seven night cruise, Dan.
Yeah.
All right, the last question of rapid fire is where is your bucket list cruise? Meaning if you could go on a Disney cruise to anywhere in the world. Doesn't even have to be someplace that Disney Cruise Line currently sails. It just has to be someplace access by water. Like where do you want to go? What's your dream itinerary? So someplace you haven't been.
Amy, we'll start with you.
[00:58:19] Speaker D: I probably would want to do like a world cruise, but maybe that focuses on Disney destinations. So I want to see the world, but then, you know, park, spend a few days, go to Tokyo, go to wherever. Just everything. I'd want to see everything.
[00:58:35] Speaker C: Love it. Love it. I'll be, I'll be there with you. I'll be next door. Amy, we can, we can cheers on the, on the balcony. All right, Dan, about you would definitely
[00:58:44] Speaker B: be either the French Riviera or it would be Sento in Capri, the island, Italy.
[00:58:52] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, those would be. That would be lovely. Yeah. Well, you know, the Wish is going to be sailing to Europe in 2027. So there are some options that include Italy, Greece, that Might be a good fit for you, Dan. They don't do the French Riviera, but they do. But they do some of the. Those, you know, they do Sorrento. So that's. That's a lovely option.
All right, well, you guys, you passed with flying colors. As I mentioned, Dan won rapid fire just because of his banana soft serve ice cream answer. Because that is objectively the right answer. Pool deck soft serve in general is amazing, but especially that banana one is the best one. So I will throw you back over to Brian.
[00:59:39] Speaker A: Yeah. So I always like to ask at the end, what's next?
Did you pick up a placeholder? Have you got something you're eyeing? Like. Yeah.
[00:59:46] Speaker C: So have you convinced Dan to go back? Yeah.
[00:59:49] Speaker D: Yes, we did pick up a placeholder, but I had actually convinced him before we left.
So we booked a Cruise for his 50th, because I'm older. And where are we going?
[00:59:59] Speaker B: Alaska.
[01:00:00] Speaker D: Do you remember the ship?
[01:00:02] Speaker B: I don't want to pull the wrong one.
[01:00:06] Speaker C: There's only two options.
[01:00:08] Speaker D: He doesn't know the two options.
[01:00:10] Speaker B: I love it.
[01:00:11] Speaker C: I know, I know. I. I figured that. I just thought it would be funny if I told him there's only two options and then he would say, like the treasure or the adventure or something. Right? Like something that clearly doesn't go there. Yeah. Yeah, I love that. I love that. Well, you guys are going to have a fabulous time. That is, I mean, the. The wonder is an incredible ship. Alaska is the premier location. It is the best place to cruise bar non in my opinion. We had a fantastic time on our Alaska cruise last year. We hope you'll come back and chat with us about a future cruise. Amy, why don't you tell folks if they're interested in booking with you or want to reach out where they can reach you?
