Episode Transcript

[00:00:00] Speaker A: And that ended very abruptly, actually. All right, welcome back, everybody, to a Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode of the DCL Duo podcast. Brian, call this episode is for you, buddy. Because you've been asking for this for, I think, over a year since really. [00:00:27] Speaker B: Since we did the wish one. [00:00:28] Speaker A: He's been. [00:00:29] Speaker B: He loved that episode. And one. [00:00:32] Speaker A: Hold on. Let's talk to folks about what this is, because some of you out there may not remember or have ever seen Mystery Science Theater 3000. So in case you haven't, Mystery Science Theater 3000 was kind of a cult show where they would watch old and really bad movies and some characters would sit in the front row of the movie theater and comment throughout the movie and just make funny comments as they went along. We did an episode like that for the Wish Christening. We watched it live and just made comments along the way as we were watching the show. And so we're going to do that with the Treasure christening now. It is November 23rd, Saturday, November 23rd, as we're recording this. So the christening obviously happened several days ago, but due to the cyclone, the bomb cyclone that hit Seattle, we lost power. We had to flee to New York. And so we're just getting around to watching it. We only caught snippets of the christening beforehand. So this really is our first time watching the whole thing through live. And so what we're gonna do is we're gonna count down from 3, 2, 1, and then start the show and hit play. I can't rebroadcast Disney's audio here because I think Disney would get pretty upset with me over that. I may try to put the audio gently underneath the track here so you can kind of get a sense of where we are in the show. But if you really wanna enjoy this show, you should head back to YouTube to the live christening. And when we get to one, hit play. And then our comments should sort of line up nicely with what you're hearing from Disney Cruise Line Line on the live broadcast. So, all right, we're going to pull up the christening. All right, we're going to pull up the christening right now. It is called the Christening. Welcome to the Disney Treasure Christening. Spectacular is where it starts. And so we're going to do. [00:02:16] Speaker B: And it's only about 10 minutes and 43 seconds. So it's not a super long video. It's shorter than I thought. [00:02:22] Speaker A: It was like 20 minutes when I saw it. But okay, 10 minutes. 10 minutes and 43 seconds. Let's make sure that this is the right video. Looks like it is. So we're going to do 3, 3, 2, 1. Our video is playing Disney treasure. Heartfelt music. Oh, this is the bridge. [00:02:40] Speaker B: Oh, they're starting up the engines. [00:02:42] Speaker A: There's a button. There's a green button that says Start Jumbo Suites. It's very hard. Touching. Oh, Moana. [00:02:53] Speaker B: Of course. [00:02:54] Speaker A: The touchless touch thing that you have to touch imagination. [00:02:57] Speaker B: That have only existed in the imagination. [00:03:01] Speaker A: I wonder what that was. That. That room with the one bed in it. That was weird. [00:03:04] Speaker B: We enjoy. It was just a state room. [00:03:06] Speaker A: Yeah, but it looks like a twin bed in a state room. I. [00:03:09] Speaker B: No, I think it's the normal queen. Show you what I mean. [00:03:12] Speaker A: Hey, Walt. How you doing? What nice drone aerial shot here of the ship. Perhaps. Treasure. [00:03:20] Speaker B: She is beautiful. Oh, look at the air. The staircase in the grand hall. Oh, the. I didn't see it. The light up lamp when we watched earlier because I. We couldn't. We were watching on your phone. [00:03:36] Speaker A: Oh, those lemmings are really cool. [00:03:38] Speaker B: The pops. The popsicles. [00:03:40] Speaker A: Oh, that. That periscope clearly does not work, by the way. [00:03:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know. We'll have to see. [00:03:44] Speaker A: No, it clear was the eye holes were covered. [00:03:47] Speaker B: They were covered. I like the. Yeah, here's the tower suite. I do like the. Well, I didn't show it here, but the touches of figment that I've seen in pictures. [00:03:59] Speaker A: There's the fish tank. [00:04:00] Speaker B: Yeah. This is the Haunted Mansion fish tank. Yeah. Yeah. It's beautiful. [00:04:06] Speaker A: Were those cast members? They look like. They're almost dressed for like Agrabah in the grand hall. That was interesting. [00:04:12] Speaker B: Yeah, it could be. There's Ray. [00:04:15] Speaker A: That was a really good Ray. [00:04:16] Speaker B: Moana Adventure is coming. We're hearing good things about at least Act 1 of the Moana show because our friend Emily got to see it on the preview tour while she was docked in New York. It's nice that they're highlighting lots of cast members. [00:04:33] Speaker A: Wasn't one of the concierge shows supposed to be in one of these videos? Wasn't Christina? [00:04:37] Speaker B: Yes, I think either Christina or Sophie. Jordan Sparks. [00:04:43] Speaker A: Of course. The adventure is out there. Even though we're talking about the Disney treasure. Yeah, it's such a weird song. I mean, it's a good song, but when you have a ship named the Disney Adventure, it's ridiculous. [00:04:56] Speaker B: Well, the adventure will have to. Maybe they'll use this song for the adventure also. [00:05:00] Speaker A: No, they'll probably have Treasure. Your fantasy dream. Your fantasy actually wishes are where magic come true. It's Interesting. They're doing at night, too. [00:05:14] Speaker B: Yeah. Because they did the wish christening in them. [00:05:16] Speaker A: I mean, I know they have. I know they're doing the drone show, but, like. [00:05:19] Speaker B: Well, and they did this in New York as they did the Wish one was at. In Florida and Port Canaveral. [00:05:26] Speaker A: I wonder if they had to go through each and every stateroom and make sure that the lights were off. [00:05:33] Speaker B: Probably. [00:05:38] Speaker A: Burn sparks getting down. [00:05:40] Speaker B: She's good. I mean, it's a good. [00:05:42] Speaker A: It's. It's a. It is. Objectively, she is a good singer, and objectively is a good song. [00:05:47] Speaker B: Discover the treasure and sail the adventure. [00:05:50] Speaker A: No, Seize the adventure. [00:05:51] Speaker B: Seize the adventure. [00:05:52] Speaker A: You did that last time, too. [00:05:53] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:05:58] Speaker A: All these people taking video of Jordan Sparks from behind. From behind. Try to see if I see anyone back there that we know. [00:06:09] Speaker B: I'm sure. I'm sure that we know people that were there. [00:06:12] Speaker A: We do know people that were there. So Benji from Laughing Place was there and his crew, and obviously. Well, Emily wasn't there for the christening. [00:06:19] Speaker B: Not for the christening. She was there the next day. [00:06:21] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:21] Speaker B: Because the christening was on the 19th, and then the tour day was on the 20th. For a lot of the travel agents and media to get on the ship. [00:06:27] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:06:28] Speaker B: I think on the 19th, though, they might have had, like. I think it was maybe Good Morning America got to come on. Or maybe they came on on the 20th. I can't remember. [00:06:36] Speaker A: They probably came on the day before. [00:06:38] Speaker B: This must be where the drone show starts. Yep. They turn off all the lights, except. [00:06:42] Speaker A: It's interesting. The Disney treasure logo is still lit up. That's. [00:06:45] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:06:45] Speaker A: I didn't know they could light that logo. It's just when you hear this treasure chest is opening. 10,000 years. [00:06:53] Speaker B: We'll give you such a crook in the neck. I wish they had used Robin Williams voice there for genie. [00:07:05] Speaker A: Stream. Show is really cool. [00:07:07] Speaker B: Yeah. Dancing genie. You ain't never had a friend like me. [00:07:14] Speaker A: Sam's gonna sing along the whole time. [00:07:16] Speaker B: Sorry. Sorry, people. If you're listening along, I apologize in advance. Lots of genie stuff. Well, I know the central theme of the show. Yeah. The grand hall is really. [00:07:27] Speaker A: I don't know where this is. I would have thought this would have been, like, a backdrop against New York. I guess New York City is behind. [00:07:32] Speaker B: Correct. New York City is behind. [00:07:33] Speaker A: That's Jersey. Ooh, Madame Leota. I need to zoom this out. It's too close. Just looks like a bunch of green. There we go. Haunted Mansion. I wonder how many drones they have. Up to do this? [00:07:58] Speaker B: Yeah. I don't know. [00:07:59] Speaker A: It's crazy. [00:08:00] Speaker B: It's similar to what, like the drone show they did in Disney Springs, right, that you went to see? Oh, here's the three happy haunts. [00:08:10] Speaker A: No, the hitchhiking ghosts. [00:08:12] Speaker B: Oh, yes, but all of the hitchhiking ghosts are the happy haunts that live in the haunted mansion. What is it, 100 or 99 happy haunts and room for one more. [00:08:28] Speaker A: Oh, this is Coco. [00:08:30] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:08:35] Speaker A: There's a guitar. Yeah. [00:08:38] Speaker B: Is Miguel. No, I don't think. [00:08:45] Speaker A: They just kind of park the ship out in the middle of the. Is that the Hudson? I would suppose. [00:08:50] Speaker B: I think it's on the Hudson, but I'm not sure. [00:08:55] Speaker A: Actually. [00:08:56] Speaker B: I don't know. I honestly don't know. It might not have been on. I don't know. I don't know where they were. [00:09:01] Speaker A: It was pure. Pier 60. [00:09:03] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't. I just don't know. The. The docks. [00:09:07] Speaker A: If only our power had gone out sooner, we might have been here for this. [00:09:10] Speaker B: Yeah, there. We might have. We could have gotten into the city to go see it in person. [00:09:16] Speaker A: Yeah, I heard that people just kind of walked up and walked. [00:09:18] Speaker B: Oh, I'm sure. I'm sure there would have been places. I mean, you're on the pier. They can't. They don't close the whole. I mean, they might close. So you can't access the ship, but they close the entire, you know, pier. [00:09:34] Speaker A: These are not as good as the other ones. The dog outlines. [00:09:36] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. There's the. [00:09:39] Speaker A: Oh, you know, it depends on how. [00:09:40] Speaker B: Dante. Yeah, Dante from. From the movie Coco. [00:09:45] Speaker A: Higher shots aren't as good because it's too light in the background, so he kind of washes out the drone. So this is probably really good. From the ground, fake wave noises. [00:09:59] Speaker B: Oh, Moana. That's why. Yeah, this is Grandma Tala. [00:10:04] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, I saw this part. The manta ray or whatever it is. That Grandma Teleturner. It's really cool. [00:10:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:10:12] Speaker A: That blue color on the water is gorgeous. [00:10:14] Speaker B: Yeah, it's really pretty the way it's reflecting off the water. [00:10:21] Speaker A: Every phone in the world at this place, just taking pictures. How many copies of this show do we need on the Internet? It's like everyone who films it. Fireworks. Just watch the show. Nothing you film on your phone will be as good as what they put up online after. It's really cool how they're making the right move. Yeah, okay, but I need a Maui. Where's Maui? [00:10:47] Speaker B: I can't wait to see this show. This is the Thing. I think this is the thing I'm looking forward to the most. I mean, I'm very much looking forward to seeing the Haunted Mansion Parlor as well. But I think that the thing I'm looking forward to the most is this Moana state. What's your. What's your number one, Brian? [00:11:05] Speaker A: The bars are my number one. I can't wait to see all the different bars. But, like, this show is one I. For everyone out there. I will go see this show. [00:11:11] Speaker B: You better go see this show. [00:11:12] Speaker A: I love Moana, and the stage production looks amazing. I'm just not as big of, like, I'm not as big as. Well, I'm also just not as. Like, the traditional Disney stories are great, but, like, I like. I like the more modern Disney stories that they've told. If they ever put Wally on stage, that would be amazing. [00:11:32] Speaker B: Yeah. The hard part is, you know, robots. [00:11:34] Speaker A: The heart of Te Fiti. [00:11:36] Speaker B: Yes. [00:11:37] Speaker A: It's not hard. They've got those. Wally and Eva. Yeah. [00:11:40] Speaker B: But they have to make them, like, move around. [00:11:41] Speaker A: Oh, the whole ship lit up there. [00:11:42] Speaker B: Oh, look at this. Beautiful. [00:11:44] Speaker A: How are they turning on all the lights at once? [00:11:46] Speaker B: Oh, that's so cool. [00:11:48] Speaker A: Every crew member assigned a. [00:11:50] Speaker B: No, they're outdoors. They must be the outdoor lights, like. [00:11:53] Speaker A: You know, they must be, like, central engineering. [00:11:55] Speaker B: They're just flicking breakers. Exactly, exactly. It's not like they're turning on room lights. [00:11:59] Speaker A: Look how stunning that is with all of it. [00:12:01] Speaker B: Look at the manta ray is just gorgeous. [00:12:03] Speaker A: No. Maui. Where's my Maui? They need a big Maui. [00:12:06] Speaker B: Chill. [00:12:07] Speaker A: Maui's the best. You're welcome. [00:12:08] Speaker B: You're welcome. [00:12:09] Speaker A: You're welcome. [00:12:10] Speaker B: But we. I like. What's the guy? The shiny guy. I like him, too. [00:12:14] Speaker A: Back to the song. Oh, and now, on behalf of all cast crew. Imagine not even a real bottle. It's a drone bottle. [00:12:25] Speaker B: It's a drone bottle. [00:12:26] Speaker A: I hear it's not. [00:12:26] Speaker B: And they're not gonna even smash it. It's just gonna explode. [00:12:28] Speaker A: I hear it's a Lovely vintage of DJI Drone 2024. [00:12:35] Speaker B: See? Yeah. They just kind of exploded. I wish. I actually don't mind the drone bottle. I just think they should have made it look like it was crashing into the ship. That would have been cooler. And I love that they did this, which is right now we're seeing the name Disney and then now the name Treasure. They did a great job with that. I just wish it would have made the bottle look like it hit the ship. [00:12:57] Speaker A: Well, I hear it's about to end abruptly as they start to play the horns, which I would have loved to have heard. I'm pretty excited. They're gonna have a special Christmas horn on board. [00:13:04] Speaker B: Yes. I wonder what tune it's gonna be. I wonder if it's gonna be like Jingle Bells or Deck the Halls or something like that. [00:13:10] Speaker A: Is there any Disney tune that's Christmas? [00:13:13] Speaker B: I don't know. Nothing I can think of. [00:13:16] Speaker A: And that ended very abruptly. Actually, that ended very abruptly. Now it's wanting to replay. All right, well, there you go.
