Show Notes

Jeremiah from Laughing Place sailed the Disney Adventure — Disney Cruise Line's newest ship, homeported in Singapore — on the maiden voyage, and he joins Sam and Brian LIVE to give the full debrief. From a muster drill that was a "giant cluster" to a stage show that just might be the best Disney has ever put on a ship, this is the most honest first look at the Adventure you'll find anywhere.

In this episode:

  • The rides situation: the Iron Man coaster was still down on the maiden, the Pym Cars are a tiny circular track, and the "secret" hot dogs are just... hot dogs
  • The "Remember" stage show featuring WALL-E and EVE — why Jeremiah calls it the best Disney jukebox show since the 90s and the one scene guaranteed to make you cry
  • No adult-only spaces on the entire ship — and what happens to the pools once the kids arrive
  • Embarkation day: no grand atrium entrance, muster chaos, and a sail-away party that happened multiple times before the ship even left the dock
  • Food highlights and lowlights: bao buns, real-heat Indian dishes, a legendary limoncello soufflé at Palo, and a pizza counter the size of a couch
  • We kick off Season 7 with the big news: a new Wish Class ship is coming in 2027 with Encanto, Frozen, Snow White, Moana, and The Little Mermaid on board

"The ship is great. It's just not my Disney ship. It doesn't scream all the Disney that I want... the shows are amazing, the cast members top-notch, but it just isn't a complete vacation for me." — Jeremiah, Laughing Place

[00:00:00] Speaker A: So I'm sitting at the Marvel at the infinity bar next to the infinity pools with the head of Marvel, and I am just the biggest geek. It was one of those times, like, am I really. Is this my life right now? [00:00:15] Speaker B: Is this happening? [00:00:29] Speaker C: Welcome back, everybody, to this week's live episode of the Deep DCL Duo Podcast, brought to you by my Path Unwinding Travel. And I'm just going to skip ahead a bit here and invite our friends in because we've also got our good friend Stephanie from DCL magazine, one of our show sponsors here to chat with us, and of course, the guest du jour, Jeremiah from Laughing Place, who's going to tell us all about the Disney adventure. So welcome everybody. [00:00:53] Speaker D: JEFFREY R. Thank you for having us. [00:00:55] Speaker A: Thank you. [00:00:57] Speaker B: Yeah, we're so excited to have you guys on the show. We've got to hit news because there was the big news item released five days ago. It was actually at a shareholders meeting where new CEO Josh tomorrow, obviously everyone knew he was going to become CEO or, or thought he'd become CEO, but it was his first day on the job and he thought he'd drop a big bomb announcement which was about the newest ship in the Wish class. We knew she's coming in 2027. What? Anything more than that? We didn't know anything except for what maybe Stephanie saw at the. At the sort of ceremony where they cut out a shape of the ship and sort of began the cut out. [00:01:41] Speaker C: Stephanie's name is. [00:01:42] Speaker D: Yeah, I got to sign a big cut out of the ship and it's going to be. I'll never get to see it again, but it's going to be somewhere in the inside. Right inside of the ship. So I feel very fancy. [00:01:55] Speaker C: So what we do. [00:01:56] Speaker A: Exploring time. [00:01:57] Speaker C: Yeah. So what we do know is Believe is the new name. Yet once again, I cannot get them to give me Imagine or Imagination or anything like that. [00:02:07] Speaker D: But I have a theory on that, though, Brian, because I think that's way too good of a name just for a ship. I think that's going to be the name of the next class. [00:02:15] Speaker A: Ooh, I love that. [00:02:17] Speaker B: Well, then it would be the first [00:02:19] Speaker D: three more years, but write it down. [00:02:21] Speaker C: Yeah. Love it. [00:02:21] Speaker B: Yeah, I love it because it would be the first name of the next class, the Imagine class or the Imagination class. That would be great. Yeah, I like that. I like that theory. [00:02:31] Speaker C: So what we, we did get confirmation of, as Sam said, is sailing late. 2027 seems to follow the same pattern for all of these ships these days. Probably around Thanksgiving or Christmas time, despite the feedback they've gotten from some long term cruisers or longtime cruisers. But they love to extract that premium for the maiden voyage. So. So late 2027, I would expect. We don't know this for certain, but I would expect to see bookings open up sometime in September, as they have for the prior two ships. I would expect to learn a ton more about this ship at D23 in August or a special event occurring around that time. [00:03:08] Speaker B: New York D23. Yeah, it might be at D23. They may do it like a week before, after D23. And they've also like. They've done that. [00:03:15] Speaker C: They've also loved giving us a little bit of D23 and then just a little bit separately as long as possible for marketing reasons. So won't be surprised if that pattern continues. What we did get from the teaser clip though were some of the IPs that will for sure be featured on board and then some like Easter egg kind of things that were sprinkled in that we were having a great conversation off air that I'm going to require us to return to. But the IPs we know that are going to be on board are Encanto, Frozen, Snow White, Moana and the Little Mermaid. Now, beyond those IPs being somewhere on board, they could have just given us three of the coffee shops and the decor for Cove Cat. We don't know. All of this means a lot of [00:03:58] Speaker B: the kids club decor. Stateroom. Yeah, state rooms. Exactly. [00:04:03] Speaker C: But in the video, interestingly enough, there were IPs that were kind of like they were. They were Easter eggs almost. They weren't. They weren't called out in the same way as these five. So the IPs we saw there were interesting enough. Nightmare, Nightmare Before Christmas, Tangled, Inside Out, Zootopia, 2ip, Fantasia, Guardians, Iron Man, Star wars and Toy Story. And so. [00:04:29] Speaker D: And Inside out too. [00:04:30] Speaker C: Oh, and inside out too. [00:04:31] Speaker B: Oh, inside out. [00:04:31] Speaker C: Inside out too. [00:04:32] Speaker B: That's right. [00:04:33] Speaker C: So lots of IP baked into this. I want to spend a minute with this esteemed panel talking about what we think this IP means and what we think. You know, the different treatment of IP within the teaser itself and what we think that could mean. So someone start us out. [00:04:50] Speaker D: Well, I think with the past ships, what they've shown us, they. They really give us a mixed bag. I don't think that those five that they're guaranteeing are necessarily going to be huge, like Sam said. I do think that might also be a little bit of a red herring situation where people are like oh, Mermaid. There's already a mermaid show on the Wish. Maybe they're going to bring that over. I don't think they're going to repeat the stage shows from the other Wish class ships. I think that maybe Tangled will be coming over from the magic because they've kind of had. They've had seas, the adventure on all of them. They've had a new show on all of them and a borrowed show on all of them. But, like, who knows? Snow White could just. Snow White could be the whole theme of the ship. And Snow White could just be like [00:05:35] Speaker A: the concierge I see in Kanto show. Snow White as. I don't think the cafes. I think Snow White could be, you know, the Cruellas, the. The piano bar. That'd be a fun theme for that. [00:05:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:05:52] Speaker A: I mean, I don't know if they will ditch Haunted Mansion. It is probably the most popular thing on any of the ships. So that could stay and then throw Nightmare as the Jungle Cruise. The Doctor, the Sanctum outside of it. That would be a fun overlay for those two to work together for the shows. [00:06:16] Speaker C: I'm really thinking now through the lens of puppetry constantly. Right. Because each one has got the staging. And I do think Encanto is super ripe for something with the house and the, you know, the brothers and sisters and their superpower kind of, you know, I think they're superpowers, but they're mystical powers. [00:06:34] Speaker D: All the flowers, all like, all the rocks coming down on her. [00:06:39] Speaker C: I love this idea. So our friend CT and tinfoil mouse ears is saying Moana and Maui's Polynesian luau. I am here for it. I think a wuau at sea would be amazing if they did that. And Moana is such a beloved ip. Tracy's mentioning Taylor Swift. Easter eggs. Did we spot Taylor Swift in this video somewhere? I didn't. No. Okay. Not sure what you're referring to there, Tracy. If you've got more context, I mean, maybe Taylor Swift will be the godmother of the ship. That would be. [00:07:13] Speaker D: I think Taylor Swift is too famous for that. [00:07:15] Speaker B: Yeah, I think so too. I think it's gotta be somebody Disney connected, more so, you know, than like a Taylor Swift. But I love a couple of the comments in. In the chat, but I. I'm gonna say I think Snow White and we're gonna have a whole prognostic. Prognostication episode in a couple of weeks. I'm not going to give all of my thoughts, but I'm going to say where I think Snow White's going to be. And I think, Jeremiah, I think you're wrong about this. I think Snow White is not going to be the piano bar. I think we're going to see that as the bayou sanctum area. And I think they're going to give us a spellbound lounge. They're going to poured it off of the adventure and just put it, plop it right in the middle of the wish class. [00:07:56] Speaker A: It's an easy upset by that. Spellbound was like, that was one of those areas that I wish I spent more time. But we'll get to that in a little bit. [00:08:06] Speaker D: Yeah, I do think it's very interesting. The press release said Snow White, the wishing wells of Snow White and the seven dwarfs. So they have a lot of people proofing that. I don't think that was a typo. So I do think like maybe it's well themed cocktails, maybe it's well themed magic illusions. Like we don't know what it is. [00:08:27] Speaker B: Or maybe a new game like the, like the Happy Hunt. Right. You could have, you. You could have a Snow White themed. Well one. [00:08:36] Speaker A: I don't see them ever doing Snow White themed drinks like that. That is kind of the off limits. You know, Spellbound is Wicked Witch, the old hag like. But Snow White. No, I don't think we'll ever see a bar. [00:08:54] Speaker C: I'm going to call it now though. If they have a spellbound lounge and it's the Wicked Witch, there will be an appletini on the menu like it has to happen. [00:09:01] Speaker B: And they'll have that gigantic wicked witch drink thing that they're selling now on the Adventure. [00:09:07] Speaker C: So yeah, Linda's which is really just [00:09:10] Speaker A: what they had from DCA for their drinks at Carthay. [00:09:15] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:09:16] Speaker B: Oh, that's right. Yeah. [00:09:17] Speaker C: Linda's saying what about Wells equals pools? So maybe the pool deck is somehow like Snow White. Snow White themed. Maybe. Maybe. Yeah. I mean look, at this point we don't know. So I will be eagerly watching D23. Might have to do a repeat of our show with that we did with CT and Wes when we did the D23 announcements a couple years ago when they announced the four ships. I just, I got some feedback recently that like, oh my God, that show was amazing. I still play it every once in a while just to watch you all react. So yeah, maybe we'll have to do a repeat there. But more to come on the believe. And like I said, I would absolutely expect more details at D23 this year. Absolutely. My expectation is booking is open in September and all Indications are this ship is well on track from a, from a building perspective. They've nailed it now, so they're. They can pump these things out. So. Yeah. Yeah. Stephanie, I know we were going to ask you to talk about, I think Sam and you talked about maybe talking about a favorite splurge on board. [00:10:14] Speaker D: A favorite splurge on board. [00:10:16] Speaker C: I'm gonna send this over to Jeremiah in a second after you answer. But, yeah. What's your favorite splurge on board? [00:10:22] Speaker D: I've got three that I wanna tell you about. My very favorite one is Rainforest Room. But you have to. Well, I was gonna say you have to be a spa person. I'm not really like, I like getting a spa treatment every once in a while, but I like the go at my own pace, stay as long as I want, kind of explore the area of the rainfore. My beef with it is that you usually have to buy a length of cruise pass instead of a one day pass, which is expensive. So that's where the splurge is. But also it only really makes sense if you're on an itinerary where you have enough time for that. Right. And if you're with a group of people, like, I'm having a cruise with my nephew in a couple months, I'm not going to get it because there's no way I'm going to have enough time to go. But I was on a cruise a few months ago and Danny and I went two times every single day, so. So you can, you can get your money's worth, I think. [00:11:16] Speaker B: Couple goals, by the way. [00:11:18] Speaker D: Couples goals, exactly. I think if you're a food lover and especially a wine lover, I think that the set menu at Enchante and the setting it on Shantay is amazing. And if you do the wine pairings with it and you have the champagne card at the beginning, like, it is really an experience. And I'm like, I like Palo, don't get me wrong. But I kind of get down on Palo because I always think for the same amount of money I could go to a nice Italian restaurant two blocks from my house and have pretty much the same experience, but I could not. For the amount of money you pay for Enchante, I could not have that same experience in Toronto. I would be paying three times as much money easily, and it wouldn't be by such a famous chef. So I think that that is a really great splurge. And the last one is actually, if you're traveling with Littles, I think splurging on The Pirates League or the Bibbid Bobbity is something like, you're gonna get photos out of that. It's an activity. It's a memory that they are always going to have and that you're probably gonna talk about for years. So even if you only do it one time with your kiddos, I think that's a really good one. [00:12:26] Speaker A: Yeah, Steph, you can say it was Danny who did it. You know, it's okay. [00:12:31] Speaker B: He got the princess makeover. Stephanie got the pirate makeover. You know, beautiful mermaid. [00:12:38] Speaker C: So, Jeremiah, I want to know one of your favorite splurges, but I want to ask to pick up on something that Stephanie just mentioned. Know the answer to this. Does the adventure have a rainforest room on board? [00:12:49] Speaker A: So the adventure has a massive spa. Sadly, I didn't spend a lot of time in there because for when I did the test cruise, funny enough, as we mentioned last time, I'm having some back problems. I was like, all about getting some acupuncture done. I never had it, but I'm like, I'm on the ship for nine days or do this and I walk in there and I go, okay, $199 for acupuncture. I will spend that for that. Well, our acupuncturists we pick up in Singapore. So I walked in there and went, wow, this is really big. And then kind of went, I'm disappointed, and left. But I didn't see a rainforest type room. But again, it was. This ship is so large. My chance to explore the spa, which is someplace normally I would have done much more of, was very little. So I can't answer that question yes or no for sure. [00:13:57] Speaker C: Okay. [00:13:58] Speaker A: As far as my splurge goes, I don't drink, so I'm always safe on everything. But two words will get me anytime on a ship. Palo brunch. That was one. They offered it on the test cruise randomly. We got a message like, hey, we have Paulo brunch. If you. Yep. [00:14:19] Speaker C: Don't. [00:14:19] Speaker A: Don't care. Like, just give it to me. Give me that chicken parm. I'm there. And it was the exact chicken parm from the other ships. Like, it was one of those. Like, I am on a Disney cruise ship right here, right now. [00:14:34] Speaker B: Yes. [00:14:34] Speaker D: I was looking online, Jeremiah, and it looked like the Paolo menu was very similar, if not identical to the other ships. Is that your experience? [00:14:43] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah. They all the menus. Well, we kind of touched on this last time. The menus were very similar in all the locations. You know, there was. I know. Steph's seen all the menus, and they're all, you know, there's options and there's some great options, but it was kind of like, okay, so how many times do I want almost the exact same meal? [00:15:12] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. So two similar. [00:15:15] Speaker A: Now we're jumping ahead again. [00:15:16] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [00:15:17] Speaker B: That's okay. That's okay. [00:15:18] Speaker D: Most people won't be on for, like, two weeks the way that you were. [00:15:22] Speaker B: Yeah. I will say I saw a comment in the chat about Paulo souffle, about how, you know, our friend c. T. He doesn't get on a ship without there being a chocolate souffle. I have heard there is chocolate souffle, but I have also heard from a friend who is a cast member that there is a limoncello souffle. And I am not a limoncello or lemon dessert person, but my friend said that that souffle blows them all out of the way. [00:15:50] Speaker C: But he's not either, if I recall, [00:15:51] Speaker B: and he's not either. [00:15:53] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:15:54] Speaker A: I did not have the limoncello souffle, but that was one of the big talking points of that, like, because we were discussing the entire menu and, you know, I'm fine. Give me the chicken parm. I'm golden. But the limoncello souffle is one of those things, like, if I had the chance, I wish I would have tried it. [00:16:14] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I mean, you can only eat so much next time. Exactly. [00:16:19] Speaker A: No, no, no, no. [00:16:20] Speaker C: All right. [00:16:23] Speaker B: Jeremiah is like, I'm never going back. [00:16:26] Speaker A: Jeremiah is like. When they announced the believe, I was just like, I think I sent Stefan. Mess is like, can we just stop with the ships for a little while? Like, I'm done. [00:16:36] Speaker B: Can we slow down? [00:16:37] Speaker A: I love cruising, but, like, you know, thankfully, that's a year plus, so I'm. I'm fine with that. [00:16:45] Speaker D: But right now, probably you have time. [00:16:48] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:16:50] Speaker C: I was going to say buckle up. We got until 2031 to get this fleet fully built up. [00:16:53] Speaker B: It's been a lot. No, but it's been. It's been a lot. It's been a marathon for. For those of us who cover the ships and all of us in this group cover the, you know, cover Disney cruise line. And so it's just been a lot with, I mean, the treasure and then the destiny only a year later and then the adventure just a couple of months later are supposed to be not even a month later. So it's just a lot. And I know that the crew is feeling that fatigue as well. Not just the onboard crew, but, like, the Folks that work at corporate for Disney Cruise Line, they're feeling some of this new ship fatigue. It's, it's a lot, a lot of work to launch these new ships. [00:17:28] Speaker C: So. So, Stephanie. Yeah. Why don't you let folks know we, we love the DCL mag. We cannot wait for it to come out. [00:17:34] Speaker D: Tell people in the mail right now, [00:17:38] Speaker B: guys, [00:17:41] Speaker D: very much expecting a text message from all of you the second that it shows up in your mailboxes, please. [00:17:46] Speaker B: Yes, absolutely. [00:17:47] Speaker D: But. So it's on the way. I haven't seen it myself in person, but I'm really, really excited to see it only days away now. I hope so. Our very first issue has come out and is now actually, if you did miss signing up for the membership, as of today, it is in our shop. So you can buy it as a one off issue. But I convinced our marketing director, well, I guess I own the company. So I don't know how much convincing there was marketing director that we should do a promo with it right now. So you can just go buy it one off one issue, test it out. But if you want to sign up for a membership now, you'll actually get it at the membership price. We do have better pricing per issue if you're committed to a membership. So if you go put it in your cart, you can add a membership on which you won't even be charged for for almost six months until right before the next one comes out. But you'll get your membership perks starting right away. [00:18:45] Speaker C: If ours comes before our sailing on the Treasure, we will drag it on board with us. [00:18:51] Speaker A: Yeah, it will definitely be on the Wonder with me next month. [00:18:56] Speaker D: So thank you so much, guys. I'm going to take one on the Destiny in a couple months. We're really, really excited and we're already working on issue number two. [00:19:07] Speaker C: Wow. [00:19:07] Speaker D: I was fact checking some things literally on Friday afternoon with our rep. So we are well underway on that one. And yeah, it's just, I think it's really beautiful. It has a different. It fits with DC or DL or DLR and wdw. Those each have their own distinct personalities, right? With WWE being like, like very fun and a little bit wacky. And then DLR is a bit more nostalgic and retro. This has a more upscale art deco kind of vibe to it. But they still, they still all go together. They're like siblings in different outfits. Right. [00:19:47] Speaker B: It's like the mat. It's like the magic class, the dream class and the wish class. They're all siblings, but they all look A little different. [00:19:54] Speaker D: Yeah, exactly. So I'm really excited and I can't wait to hear what you guys think about it. And for any of your listeners, you can get 10% off off your memberships, a single issue. Anything else in our shop with code DCL Duo and I would love to hear what you guys think of it as well. So come over to our CL magazine, Facebook or Instagram page if you get one, and let me know what you think. [00:20:19] Speaker B: Awesome. [00:20:19] Speaker C: Stephanie, it is always a treat to talk to you. And now you're reminding me. I need to go check my inbox for my note from Tim on the deadline for the article for the next magazine, which I will do now. [00:20:30] Speaker D: You've reminded me that I probably have a deadline for Tim, so thank you for that. [00:20:35] Speaker C: Well, thanks for joining us, Stephanie. We're going to carry on with Jeremiah to talk all about the adventure now. [00:20:39] Speaker D: Have fun, guys. [00:20:40] Speaker C: See ya. [00:20:41] Speaker A: Bye. Talk to you later, Steph. [00:20:44] Speaker C: All right, so let's get down to business. Jeremiah, you had a little bit of time off. [00:20:48] Speaker B: There's so much to talk about. [00:20:49] Speaker C: You had a little bit of time off. Walk us through embarkation day for the maiden voyage of the Disney adventure. [00:20:59] Speaker A: Okay, so embarkation, it's very different than I've done with the other ships. And this, this is probably just because of the size. You know, we showed up a little early thinking, okay, you know, we'll wait. They'll call us. Oh, no. We were moved in. There were at least 20 cast members to check us in. Like, they were sitting there waiting, and they were all the crew in Singapore, you could tell the DCL cast members were in the back, kind of like making sure he was doing their good job, smooth to get on. So I didn't talk a lot about this on the last time, but to me, walking on the ship is the. And here's Jeremiah. Good party. There was none of that. We get on the deck, we kind of. They check us in one last time. Walk down, cut into. I believe it was level seven. Don't quote me on that. It was just a random level. And then they had the ship photo where you could take the picture with a sign off to the side, and there were cast members waving. And that was it. [00:22:26] Speaker B: Yeah. And you're walking into just like a normal deck. And then there's an elevator bank. Right. There's not like you're not in any kind of sort of central hub. Like, I. I know there's not really an atrium or grand hall on the ship to begin with, but it's not like you're walking into even the Imagination Garden or the town square or some other sort of distinct area. You're just really walking into, like a hallway with elevators. [00:22:50] Speaker A: Yeah, it was, you know, a couple of cast members with the gloves on, waving, getting excited for us to board, and then we were there. [00:22:59] Speaker B: Yeah. Did he tell you, like, did they tell you anything about, like, where to go, what to do? Right. Because at that point you're like, I mean, you had been on, but other folks, of course, hadn't been on before. And so I'm sure other people are like, okay, what do I do? And I hear. I heard through the grapevine, the app was not actually working properly on embarkation day. At least at the start of the day, it might. There was some glitch. [00:23:24] Speaker A: For me, the app was working okay, but again, because I'd been on it already, I knew, okay, here are my options. No, there was no direction. There was no information about the app. There was no, hey, you need to make reservations. Hey, check this out. Do this. The cast members were there to answer the questions. It was pretty much, okay, your room number. And our rooms were ready right away. So because it was the first. Well, not really, but the first maiden cruise. So we headed to our room, kind of went, okay, checked out her room. We were lucky enough to have the Imagination Garden view right at the stage. That will forever be the best room that I'll have on any ship. [00:24:12] Speaker B: Yeah. That was an incredible room. [00:24:14] Speaker A: Yeah. Do we want food? Do you know? We could go to Pixar to get the buffet. We could go to one of the sit downs. We could go into the Imagination Garden to any of those locations. But it was really just kind of a. Okay. Oh, here's the Sail Away party that they did multiple times during the day. To me, that was just weird. [00:24:38] Speaker B: Yeah, it is weird, right? Like, how many times did they do that Sail Away? I know, it's. They did it in the Imagination Garden on the stage, like they do of all of the deck parties that we are used to up on a pool deck. And not on a pool deck, obviously, except for maybe fireworks, but. Yeah. How many times do you think they did that Sail Away party? [00:24:57] Speaker A: They either did it two or three. When I went into the room, one was going right then. And my room, as I said, was facing the Imagination Gardens with the stage right there and the soundproofing in the room. It's pretty decent. I know that other people have shown the video of. Oh, it's great. We could hear the music, but it wasn't deafening. We opened up the door, boom. And then I went down and saw it again at 2:30, I believe. So it was just weird to see the sail away. But not sail away. [00:25:40] Speaker B: Right, right. Because you don't sail away till later. Yeah. You're not on a deck so you can't even see. Even if you were sailing away, you wouldn't be able to see it. And then. [00:25:48] Speaker A: And the horn is just the recorded horn for the show. Which again was one of those things of I want my old chips back. [00:25:58] Speaker B: You know, I gotta ask about the location of that room. The garden view. Folks are asking in the chat about how they. Those rooms compare to the ocean view. Brian and I were looking at them and my memory was that they're more expensive. The garden view is more expensive than the ocean view. [00:26:18] Speaker C: We were looking at concierge. The concierge veranda was about five or six hundred dollars less than the. Yeah. The garden view looking. Overlooking the stage and such. So I don't know if that was your experience, Jeremiah. [00:26:33] Speaker A: I didn't book it on my side. That was all my. My boss over at Laughing Place took care of that. [00:26:39] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:26:39] Speaker A: But I did hear from many people that our room was on the more expensive side than everything else. And I had the ocean view on the test cruise. Very nice. Relaxing. This I will say if you are in the stage area of the Imagination Garden. Great views of the show. Really nice. But the first night they did a dance party until 11:30 at night. And that soundproofing, not that great at that point. [00:27:16] Speaker B: Yeah, that's good to hear because it's 11:30 at night. [00:27:18] Speaker C: I have seen those videos and we were thinking about staying in one of those rooms and I was toying around with it. And so that is super helpful to know because that's more like being on like a Royal Caribbean ship. If they're doing something big up on the pool deck, you can hear it in the rooms. I mean it's not deafening to your point, but it's certainly enough that I need white noise to drown that out to go to sleep. [00:27:37] Speaker E: So. [00:27:37] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:27:37] Speaker A: Yeah. Well even the white noise it was, you know, we were in the room early, probably 9:30, ready to sleep. And yeah, the dance party. And the funny thing about the dance party is the characters were out until 11:30. That's something I've never seen is. Yeah, Daisy was out getting down. Cause I walked out a couple of times just going, are they going to end anytime soon? And I want to say it was 11:30, but it may have even closer to midnight. But it was, it was a dance party. [00:28:12] Speaker B: The only time I've seen that is on New Year's Eve. Right. On New Year's Eve. They've got the characters out like just before from like 11:30 to midnight. And everybody, you know, says, happy New Year. There's fireworks and then everybody goes to bed after that. So by like 12:30. But that's the only time I've seen characters out that long late. [00:28:30] Speaker C: So I should, I should, I should pause here to remind our audience that we had Jeremiah on. We released his show last week. I think it was maybe even the week prior to two weeks ago. [00:28:41] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:28:42] Speaker C: And for when he was on board from Tokyo to Singapore for nine nights. And he had some very specific, you know. Good, good. [00:28:49] Speaker B: It's an audio only. It's audio only episode. So it's not on our video. [00:28:54] Speaker C: It's on YouTube. The audio will publish to YouTube in our podcast feed. So you can listen to it. There's there. But I would definitely highlight. Go back and listen to that because we, we talked through a lot of things tonight and I think tonight what I want to do, Jeremiah, is ask what stood out to you. You sailed on nine days, then you got on the Maiden. Now you're with like real people. Although we heard, we heard the Maiden was only like 3, 800 people. It wasn't even like a full. [00:29:21] Speaker B: Because it was all adults. Brian. Because it was. Because there was like no kids on it. [00:29:25] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. But like what stood out to you the most? Jeremiah, having experienced both cruises, like where did the pain still exist? Or where did you find that the pain was worse? Where did things get better? So [00:29:42] Speaker A: this was very interesting to experience because again, the test was very free flowing. We had the time to do whatever we wanted. This being three days, the one that stood out the most was dinner the first night at Animator's Palette, which if I never have to eat at an Animator's Palette again, that does the drawing, I will be very happy. And that is because during the test cruise we added that many nights and it's not my favorite show. But the food, I will say the food was definitely much better. Even though it was just a week. It may have been my stomach going, hey, you're feeling better. But the line to get in because there's no space, there's no long hallway, there's no real prep the lines because they had the two doors on each side backing up going down the hallway or into the elevator bank, blocking the elevator bank, becoming just a giant cluster in the elevator area. And the cast members were doing their best. They were like walking with the hand wipes, trying to get everybody set, tried to get them in quickly. But I walked up and the person I was traveling with was Ari up close. But the line 20 minutes before was, you know, you couldn't find the end of the line because it was just mixing and everybody was all together. [00:31:22] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. [00:31:24] Speaker C: Are you listening to our show? [00:31:25] Speaker E: Because you want to make the most out of your next vacation. Great news. [00:32:23] Speaker B: I gotta ask about the food. Jeremiah, we didn't really talk about the food when we talked to you previously, except for the fact that you weren't really looking forward to eating it again. And it sounds like it was improved between just your, your. Your shakedown cruise versus the maiden voyage. But, like, overall, what would you say flavors are like? Are they. Are they more spicy? Are they more like, what are we looking at for an American going on the adventure over in Singapore, the nice [00:32:56] Speaker A: thing is the menus are very broad. If you do want Asian, they have that. If you want steak, they have that. My traveling partner really enjoyed the steak. I was enjoying the different Asian offerings. The bao buns were amazing. You know, they. They had a little bit of everything. I will say the Indian offerings, if you like spice, it is true Indian food. It is, it is. The spice is there. It was enough to, you know, get me to have to drink something. And I'm pretty a big wuss. So it probably wouldn't do much for many people. But I was ready to drink more after that. But yeah, all the menus, as I said earlier, were very similar and to me it was kind of like a, okay, I don't need this exact same or some version of it, which I guess is on all the ships they always had the chicken, they had the steak, they had the burger. But the test versus the actual main, it tasted like the main had gotten it better. [00:34:14] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:34:15] Speaker C: Do you find some of the flavor profiles are similar to the Lion King kind of cuisine that they're serving? [00:34:23] Speaker A: Kind of, yeah. I didn't even think about Lion King. But yeah, the Indian options are. And South American options are very similar to that. But. But again, you will find something you want to eat easily. And if not, you can always order off the kids menu and get two slices of pizza. [00:34:44] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:34:45] Speaker B: Now what about the quick serve? I know that the quick serve, I know you had told us on the previous show that the quick serve you had to make reservations for a time to go and sort of order and pick up. I understand from talking to somebody who was on board after the maiden that they've actually dropped. Dropped those reservations. So after the maiden. Yeah. So after the maiden you no longer had to do that. I know you still had to do it for the maiden, but were you able to explore some of the other quick service options? And, and what did you think of those? Were they like sort of worth the reservation and the Wade. [00:35:19] Speaker A: So Grandma Talas and Mowgli's are both again, different options, different flavors, different, you know, and Grandma Tala's actually both of them, you know, had. Had good flavor, had good, you know, you make your own. That's. That was the easy part. I am a little surprised they dropped the reservations, but I could see them bringing that back if the ship does get more capacity. Yeah, yeah. Like it was about 4,000 and we never really had problems with the reservation system, so I could see why they dropped it. But the thing like I didn't try the Ms. Marvel's, the shawarma or the kebabs, but my friends did and they really enjoyed it, especially the shawarma. That is an ongoing joke on that ship about the shawarma, by the way. And Ohana's, the burgers, they were burgers, [00:36:27] Speaker B: nothing special, but a burger. [00:36:29] Speaker A: I wasn't over impressed with them on the test cruise. On this one again, it was one of those like, hey, it's 9 o' clock at night, I'm hungry, I don't want to go do dinner. I'll get one of those. And it was fine. The one thing that probably nobody has talked about is the Pizza Planet. The one quick serve, quick service on the deck. It is. I wish I could show you. Like, the couch I'm sitting next to is about as big as the entire service table of that, you know, they had pepperoni, cheese, and meat lovers. And they would make one, put it down. If you wanted a whole one, they had to make the whole one. So that just stopped everything. [00:37:23] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:37:25] Speaker A: So that was the definition of the adventure for me. It's the we can do it, but we didn't take into consideration there's going to be 30 people in line wanting more pizza while we were making a whole pizza for somebody. [00:37:43] Speaker B: This is. [00:37:43] Speaker C: That has actually now become an issue on the desk class and the wish class, because it's the same. They're making the. The pizza is good because it's fresh, but because it's fresh and they're making it fresh, they can't pump it out fast enough to keep it in stock. And so you have this line at the pizza place because everyone's waiting on a pizza. [00:38:02] Speaker B: But at least on the wish class, you've got Mickey's Smokestack Barbecue, you've got Donald's Cantina, you've got Goofy's Grill. So if you, if you don't want to wait for the pizza, you can go to other places and you're going to wait at all of them, but not that long. And so I think when you only have pizza up on the deck, and I know there's that hot dog place over by the Marvel Rides, but I heard that was kind of a very secret. Yeah, and it's not really a secret. But yeah, I, I just saw the. That same video. Being like, this is a secret. It's like, no, it's just a hot dog place that is kind of tucked away. But I heard, I heard that's good. But also kind of a long wait for a hot dog. [00:38:43] Speaker A: So the Marvel dog. So I'll put it because it's next to the Infinity bar, which is next to the Infinity pools. Ha ha ha. So I have to tell one story. My friend Brian Crosby, who works with Marvel, he's kind of the liaison between Marvel and Imagineering. Amazing guy. He. His name is actually one of the Easter eggs on the Pym Cars. His giant badge is on there. I'm sitting down with him next to the Infinity pools, and he goes, hey, somebody's coming over to hang out with us. And it was CB Cybulsky. The head editor of Marvel. So I'm sitting at the Infinity Bar next to the Infinity pools with the head of Marvel and I am the biggest geek. It was one of those times, like, am I really. Is this my life happening? Yeah. And the hot dogs were there. And if you've gone to a 711 or one of those that has little hot dog rollers, that was all it was when I started hearing the. Oh, the hidden secret of hot dog. Okay. And that area, if there was an adult area, it would be that area, you know, the smoking areas right next to the infinity pools and they have the bar and then it's just hot dogs. Like it was so funny. Everybody was talking about. I'm like, they're just hot dogs, people. [00:40:29] Speaker C: This reminds me a lot of if you go on Royal Caribbean in an Oasis class ship, there is, is, there is not a lot of deck food. There is like one option for deck food and then everything else is, you know, they might have quick serve or [00:40:41] Speaker B: you know, upcharge whatever hot dog place on the boardwalk. Brian. [00:40:45] Speaker C: But it's spread out over the ship, right? Like, if you want, if you don't want whatever they're serving at the quick serve at the pool, then you gotta leave the pool deck and go find the buffet or something else. Yeah, so that's, that, that's, that's interesting. You know, Jeremiah, when we talked last time, one thing I had not fully appreciated, but we, we recorded for, for all of you out there, listening, watching, got a slate of adventure related shows coming. We were recording someone over the weekend who reminded us that there are no adult spaces on the adventure. That none of the spaces are reserved for adults. [00:41:19] Speaker A: No. And that's like I said, the Infinity Bar. If there was the adult space, it would be that area. And it's not. There is no adult space. There's no get away from the kids. You know, there were limited kids on this cruise, but every time I'd walk by there, the infinity pools were quite full with a family with kids playing in the infinity pool and the pool deck. You know, this is something we didn't talk about last time. There are pools, but there's not a lot of pools. And if it's hot, which it is, like my friends were on the second sailing or on the third sailing, just they're like, this is Florida bad. And like, I'm glad that I missed that because I don't need Florida bad because I live in Florida bad. You know, they, they said that the pools were packed. Like they couldn't get in because the main pool was so full of kids. And then you'd go to the smaller hot tubs and they were full and the infinity pools were full. [00:42:29] Speaker B: Wow. Yeah, yeah. So kids soup everywhere across the ship? [00:42:33] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I don't want to say that, but yes. [00:42:36] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah. [00:42:36] Speaker B: I mean it's kids, you know, we call it that on the other ship. So I gotta call. It's just a matter of when you're. When you've got an adult only pool. That's the only place that's not going to be kid soup. But you don't have an adult only pool on the. On the adventure at all. Now somebody is asking about the muster on the maiden. We. I gotta. So I have to ask about the muster. As I understand again, it's the in person muster. You might be outside, you might be inside. Just depends on where your stateroom assignment is. We know that some people go in the theater, some people are out on deck. Anything notable or different about this muster besides the normal thing that, you know, people show up 15 minutes late because they didn't understand that they need to be there. [00:43:21] Speaker A: If I had to describe one thing as a giant cluster, it would be [00:43:27] Speaker B: the muster was a cluster. [00:43:31] Speaker A: It wasn't even mean to rhyme. But so my spot was inside. Next, the escalators, which still to this day, escalators on a Disney cruise ship just blow my mind. The biggest problem with it, and I think this problem is something that they're going to have to deal with at some point. All of the announcements are in English. Not everybody speaks English as their first language. Some don't speak English at all. So trying to explain the muster to somebody who's never been on a cruise. I got there, found my spot, it was a mess. There were so many check in points around the town square area and mine was right in the back of the town square. I could see everybody coming up. I could see people coming up with just one person in their party because they didn't understand they needed everybody. I could see people walking around going, is it this one? Is it this one? You know, the cast members trying to figure out where other check in points were. It is something that they will have to figure out. And you know, it's. It's an age old thing. They have a problem. It's something they have to figure out. But even muster on regular ships. [00:44:58] Speaker B: Yeah, still a problem. Same. Yeah. I mean, you can imagine even let's say we were on a brand new class of Disney ship in the United States and let's say all of the announcements were in French, right? Like, we would, you know, even if you spoke a little bit of French, you might have trouble understanding where you were supposed to go and then communicating with the cast member and them trying to tell you in French that, you know, this is your station, or they're not even sure where the station is and they're trying to help you figure it out. So it is. It is. You know, when. When you're talking about, you know, the folks in Singapore speak English fluently for the most part, because that's a primary language in Singapore. But you've got folks coming over from other parts of Asia that English is. Might be their third or fourth language and maybe they speak a little bit of English and not fluently. And so, you know, you're. And again, and as you said, your fir and their first cruise ever, a lot of the folks who are going on the adventure are probably on their first cruise ever, and not just their first Disney cruise. So. So lots of confusion. [00:46:01] Speaker C: So we got a couple good questions in the chat I want to tackle here. So the first one I'm going to say with a hint of, I guess, sarcasm, but were you able to do all the rides? Jeremiah, without issue, is the question which we already know the answer to. [00:46:14] Speaker B: We know the answer, but we'll let Jeremiah tell folks. [00:46:19] Speaker C: So. [00:46:21] Speaker A: No, the answer is flat out no. The Groot Spinner, which is very cute, is a mini. Mini Dumbo. I think I described it last time as if there was a small carnival. This is literally the kids version of that. That's the, you know, you're paying $5 for your kid to go around for 90 seconds, go wee wee. [00:46:48] Speaker B: That would be me. [00:46:50] Speaker A: The pim cars. Very cute idea. You know, you can tell that this was something that Disney inherited, and they just kind of said, okay, okay, we need to do something with this. Hey, we can make these all tiny and we can throw on themes and we can throw on names from Ant man and the Wasp and everything. Three to four cars. Four cars, I think, is the max for that. And you just drive around a small track and it's like just a circle, basically. Oh, yeah, it is teeny tiny. And that's not just a joke about it. And my friends who are on it said that cars were getting stuck on it. And then there's the Iron Coaster. [00:47:44] Speaker B: Iron Cycle. [00:47:46] Speaker A: Somehow during the media event, they got that running for the 12 people that got on it, the videos were everywhere. So I had hoped that when I was going to be on there, oh, I Will try. Doesn't look too rough. I'm great with that. Nope, nope, nope. We saw testing a couple of times. We can tell you that the announcement that they are testing is really loud and echoes throughout the pool deck area and even down into the imagination garden area area. But I saw it run maybe three times and I. Testing, Nobody on it. Nothing going on. We saw maintenance up on the deck trying everything to get that thing running. We heard possibly the last day they were going to have it, but nope. [00:48:46] Speaker B: We'll add it's on the fifth sailing right now. The fifth sailing just started, I think yesterday or the day before and. And I don't think it's running yet. That's the last we heard is. It's still not running. [00:48:58] Speaker C: Yeah. Our friend Ashley's asking, do they have the DCL scent on board? Did you step on board and feel like you were just. [00:49:06] Speaker B: It does smell like Disney Cruise Line. [00:49:07] Speaker C: Smell like Disney Cruise Line. [00:49:09] Speaker A: They had the pumping out of the scent everywhere. Yes, the smell is there, but the smell didn't. Didn't overpower the lack of theme in the hallways or in the staterooms or, you know, to go off on this. There were parts that were so Disney you felt like you were in a queue or in Disneyland. Like San Fransokyo was one of the most amazingly detailed areas. There was great Easter eggs. You could just hang out in there. It was great. That's amazing. For the entrance to the two teen areas or the teen and. [00:49:56] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, the Tween and the teen areas are right there. Yeah, yeah. [00:49:59] Speaker A: And then they have the Duffy Shop and the Nat Geo Shop and then video games that were created based around Big Hero 6. They have the Baymax meet and greet, a cute little bar right there. And then at the end is the theater, which I actually went into the theater. Theater. There's roughly 70 seats per theater and there are four of them. So I sat down and watched Hopper on a Ship and it was fun. Amazing. I loved it. That movie like that is one of those movies. If you have not seen it, go see it. It is. It is Pixar at its best. [00:50:35] Speaker B: Oh, I love that. I love hearing that. [00:50:38] Speaker A: Good part. Baymax or San Fran. Tokyo. Bad part. The hallways, they had carpet that had Mickey's on it. So, you know, if you're walking to the forward or to the aft, the everything in it was just a plain hallway. Walk into your stateroom. They have the one piece of art behind the bed and one piece of art on the wall, and that was it. And I look at pictures of the other ships in their staterooms. And yes, it is similar, but it's just not like not as nice. There wasn't anything. Yeah, it just wasn't Disney to me. And that's the sad part about the ship. Is there only so much that Disney could do because they inherited or purchased And I think I didn't watch the imagineering story about the ship, but I think it said it was 60 done when Disney acquired it. So they already had the. Things were things they can't change. But the parts that they could were great. Imagination Garden had some amazing theme to it. The Castle at sea was interesting. The high tech stage was some of the best shows ever. Amazing Walt Disney Theater. They took what they had and enhanced it. And it's probably my favorite Walt Disney theater because they did more with the texture around the actual stage so they could do better projections and better. You know, it brought it to life. [00:52:29] Speaker B: I gotta go back to the stateroom because I have to ask the question that is a really important Disney Cruise Line question which is the bed. I feel like Disney Cruise Line is known for having some really great mattresses and really great beds. And I'm guessing that this is probably not the same because that's probably something, you know, part of the state rooms that was already pre ordered or already sort of obtained or gotten before Disney took over the ship. But I'm curious, you know, you have. We're having some back issues. We know you're recovering from those issues right now. I gotta ask you, like, like did you sleep well on the bed or was it not a great bed? I don't know. [00:53:10] Speaker A: No, I think the bed was. The bed was probably the exact same as the other ships. [00:53:16] Speaker D: Oh, good. [00:53:16] Speaker B: Okay. [00:53:17] Speaker A: Pillows were also, you know, you'd lay down just. I will say it seemed firmer and that's I think an Asian thing. They prefer their beds firmer. But I had no problem sleeping on the ship other than on the test cruise with the rough seats. [00:53:35] Speaker C: Yeah, there were a couple questions in chat. I just wanted to quickly say that we will talk about with an upcoming guest who is or one of an upcoming guest. So there was a lot of chatter in the beginning about back to back cruising. Jeremiah did not do a back to back. He just did the three night Maiden in addition to the nine other nights that he spent on board before. And so we have a guest coming on next Monday to preempt maybe that portion of this show. We'll tell you more who is doing back to back to back to back. So the first four sailings, starting with the Maiden. So she would be able to speak very intelligently about the back to back protocols and how they evolved over the course of her trip. Potentially well. [00:54:21] Speaker B: And also about some of the reservation things that have changed because I know that the stores are now no longer doing the reservations. And I mentioned the quick serve is also not doing reservations, even though they were on the maid. [00:54:33] Speaker C: The other things that we touched on in that and the. We have a. We have a recorded episode that will come out at the end of this week where we do touch on the door magnet and fish extender experience. Spoiler alert. There are no fish extenders in the hallway. So there's no hook. [00:54:49] Speaker B: There's no thing to hook. So you got to bring a magnet hook if you want to hang a fish extender. [00:54:54] Speaker C: But our guest later this week will be talking about that. And then one thing I want to ask you about Jeremiah, because I agree. I think our. One of our guests actually mentioned this. The couch in the stateroom looks exceedingly uncomfortable. [00:55:09] Speaker A: So this is an interesting thing. Yes. To sit on the couch. Extremely uncomfortable. Very, you know, just very like, okay, there's no give. You're sitting down. That's it. [00:55:22] Speaker B: Yeah. It's an L shape. It's like a literally L shape. And it looks like very thin padding. [00:55:29] Speaker A: Yes. But the bed. So this was an interesting thing. On the test cruise, we had the bed fold out worked great the first night. We didn't advise them that we needed the bed fold out. So I called guest services. An hour later, I called guest services again. I don't know if it was busy what was going on, but we had two guys come and try to figure out how to do the bed. The bed is not an easy just fold out. As the two guys are trying to figure out how to do it, they have to go get other things. I guess we were missing a duvet cover and something. As they're leaving, I get another knock at the door, which is probably the second call I made to guest services about folding out the bed. So they come back, they fold out the bed. The bed takes up the entire space. [00:56:32] Speaker B: Oh, wow. [00:56:32] Speaker A: Like there is no way to get in between the bed. Yeah. [00:56:39] Speaker B: To the balcony. Because you have a balcony right there. Yeah. [00:56:43] Speaker A: So the next night I ask the. Our seat room attendant and he goes, oh, I'm just going to make it the double. The bed can be folded out to a massive bed or a smaller bed. It was something like, oh, that is something we didn't know because on this Test cruise. It was always just the double or it was a queen size. This would have been the entire space. We could not get around the bed. It was full. It was one of those, like, I don't remember this last time. And then when the state room attendant goes, well, I'm not going to expand it all the way. And we're like, oh, that's not a problem. Go ahead. So he did it just the double so he could get around it. [00:57:33] Speaker B: Yeah. So if you're having just one person sleep in that fold out, then it can be kept smaller. But if you're having two people sleep in that fold out, it could be made larger, but you're going to have very little room. [00:57:42] Speaker A: I feel like almost three people could. Yeah. [00:57:45] Speaker B: Oh, wow. [00:57:46] Speaker C: Nathan's confirming in chat he saw a video where they. They looked at the mattress and they confirmed same manufacturer, but firmer. So there you go. So it is the same manufacturer, A [00:57:56] Speaker B: different model, but same manufacturer. [00:57:58] Speaker C: Our friend Tracy wants to know. Jeremiah and I haven't seen much about this. Do the magic or. Sorry, the Disney band pluses work on board the ship. [00:58:06] Speaker A: No. Yeah, that was one of the questions I had right away was, is that something? And they're like, nope. The doors. Yeah. I mean, it is something that could happen, but there's no reason to have it. I mean, technically, there's no reason to have it on the ships other than if you want to try to play the games and to get into your room, but you have to sell the Disney band somehow. [00:58:30] Speaker C: Yeah, all right. [00:58:31] Speaker B: Yes, exactly. There you go. Tracy. [00:58:33] Speaker C: No Disney bands. [00:58:34] Speaker B: Well, and they don't. I don't know that they use them over in the parks in Asia. And so maybe it makes a little less sense than in the. You know, we use them in the American park. So a lot of people. People who are going to the parks already have them and they bring them with them to the cruise or they don't mind buying another one because they'll use it at the parks and vice versa. [00:58:52] Speaker C: I want to. So there is so much we could talk about here. [00:58:56] Speaker B: We gotta talk a little bit more about entertainment, Brian. [00:58:59] Speaker C: Okay, you get. [00:58:59] Speaker B: You get. [00:59:00] Speaker C: You get like five minutes on entertainment because I also failed to read the 250th or, sorry, the 550th listener review that I promised to do. So go ahead. [00:59:09] Speaker B: Oh, you did? Okay, well. Okay, so, Jeremiah, you promised me you'd tell me a little bit more about. Remember? I know we. You mentioned that Sees the adventure is the same, except there's one Change as Rapunzel instead of Merida. But you haven't told me enough about. And I don't need you to tell me everything about, remember? Because I do want to eventually, at some point, see it myself, but, like, give me some highlights. I know it's Wally and Eve, but. [00:59:36] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. So remember, to me is the best Disney jukebox show since animazement at Disneyland in the 90s. And to me, that was the top. This show has every bit of heart in it. Wally and Eve. Eve is done puppet style, like Nemo and the characters from the Finding Nemo show. Wally is something I need to find, like a video of how they do it. So Wally is a person standing in the box. If you've seen the pictures, there's a box that Wally rolls on and his hands are the puppeteer's hands. So I don't understand because the entire show, he can't just be standing with his head down and his arms up like this because it wouldn't work. So somehow he has to fit perfectly in. And we'd watch Wally, like, if he dropped something that wasn't supposed to be in a certain area, Wally would actually reach down and pick up the piece and put it someplace else. [01:00:51] Speaker B: Wow. [01:00:53] Speaker A: Yeah, it is like. It's one of those things. Again, I need to watch if there was anything in the imagination or imagineering show about that. If not, they didn't. [01:01:02] Speaker B: They didn't say anything. They just said, I mean, the new show, but they didn't say anything. They didn't give any details about it. In the. We call it Imagine. [01:01:10] Speaker A: Yeah, the media crews, I know they got to go on stage and see it up close, but I don't think anybody got to see any of the true details of it. So the puppeteering is amazing. The show hits every heartstring you could think of. I'll tell you a little bit, it will spoil a little bit. [01:01:39] Speaker C: So it follows kind of spoiler alert for everyone out there listening, Skip ahead like 30 seconds. All right, keep going. [01:01:44] Speaker B: Yeah, [01:01:47] Speaker A: it kind of follows the movie wall. Eeva shows up. I'm sorry, Eve shows up. She's struck by lightning. Her battery is gone. In order to bring back her battery, Wally plays her favorites. And her favorites are all Disney and Pixar movies. And with each one amazing. You know, there's a princess medley that is. I don't want to. I'm not going to spoil that. But that is one of those standout points that I told people. I mean, you need to watch this. This is Disney magic. At its best. And then we get to the frozen part and it's do you want to build a snowman? But it's the finale of the song. [01:02:48] Speaker B: Oh, fun. [01:02:50] Speaker A: So it's, the parents have died. I need you. And that. That just tears like. [01:03:02] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's like. Like, it's. This sounds like. Well, fun but emotional. But like, all of. Like you said, I'm pulling on all the heartstrings telling all of, like these like, amazing, amazing Disney stories. I love that. I can't wait to. That's the one that's. That's the thing that'll get me on this ship. Jeremiah. [01:03:21] Speaker A: That's the thing that is what would take me back is that show. If I could go back to and watch that show multiple times and they show it. That's one of the things that I don't know if anybody's touched on. For the Seize the Adventure, they showed it four times the first night. For the. Remember, they showed it the second. Two nights. Two times. At least the schedule doesn't show you all of the things because it's, you know, set to you, so you have your time. But if you want to see it again, you can go stand in a standby line. [01:03:59] Speaker B: Oh, that's awesome. Okay. So you can. So you were given a reservation, Unlike on the. The preview, you were given a reservation time for Seize the Adventure and for Remember. But if you wanted to see them another time, as long as you weren't at the last showing, obviously you could stand, try, try and get standby space for that. [01:04:18] Speaker A: Oh, you can even walk out and then just jump right back in. That's what the person I was traveling with, he saw Seize the Adventure three times, and I just looked at him like, I enjoy that show, but three times? No. [01:04:34] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:04:35] Speaker C: So, Jeremiah, let me round out with one last question before we start to wrap up here. So the last question I have for you. So when we talk to you after the nine nights you spent on board, you said, sort of said, I think this is, you know, if you're going to fly all the way over here from the States, couple it with a Parks trip. Was kind of your. Was your. Your guidance or your suggestion? Did anything on the maiden voyage change your mind? I mean, I can't imagine why a three night maiden voyage would. Would do that. But is that still kind of your take on the. The ship? [01:05:08] Speaker A: It is very much my take. You know, the ship is. The ship is great. I've said to many people, it's a great ship. It's just not my Disney ship. It doesn't scream all the Disney that I want. The shows are amazing, the cast members top notch, but it just is, isn't, it isn't a complete vacation for me. I can go on a three night or a five night or a seven night on any of the ships here in the US and that's a vacation for me. And that again may be the travel. But if you're going to go there, Hong Kong is a couple hour flight from there. Tokyo is a couple hour flight from there. Shanghai is a couple hour flight from there. If you're going to fly over there, use one of the suggested travel agents that we all have and book a long trip. The people that are doing back to back to back to back as you said, I would be interested on their thoughts because it's not even the trivia to me wasn't, hey, this is lots of fun because most of the cast members doing the trivia had never done trivia before. But there wasn't something enough for me to do. Yeah, you're on the ship three days. There's sure things to see, stuff to buy, great shows, good food. But it wasn't a, oh wow. I just felt like I had the best time. Yeah, yeah, I had a great time. But to do a park and that, you know, it's the just like Walt Disney World. If you're going to come out here to do a cruise, do a couple of days in the park, do a three day or do a seven day. Don't worry about the park or if you've never been to the parks, do a land and sea. But over there it would definitely be a land and sea. [01:07:25] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:07:25] Speaker C: So I'm gonna, that makes sense. Josh McHenry posted a question that I'm just gonna flippantly answer and I apologize, Josh, I don't mean to be flippant about it but, but he asked, you know, so who's it best for? I think the solid answer from Disney and from what we've heard so far is if you live in Southeast Asia and you don't have easy access to a Disney park, this is how you get Disney in your life without having to, you know, fly all the way to the US or all the way to one of the other the parks around the world or if you're looking for a Disney Disney cruising experience, that may not be exactly what you would [01:07:55] Speaker A: get out of the US you got [01:07:57] Speaker C: a ship much closer. I, I, this, this ship is being 1000% marketed to the, you know, Southeast Asian and, and broader APAC audience as their Disney experience. And you know, the imagineering show even sort of put a fine point on it, which is this is our way to bring parks, parks at sea, to places in the world that don't have, have, you know, their own Disney park, which I quibble a bit with because Jeremiah's point of Hong Kong, too far away. But I get what they're trying to say, like, you know, this, this is a way to bring that park to different people who don't. Don't get to experience it easily. And so I think that's the core answer for who's this ship for. But. All right, Jeremiah, we thank you so much for, for joining us. I have a little bit of business to wrap us up here before we. We give you the full thank you on your way out, but and an opportunity to tell people where they can find you too, most importantly. So a couple pieces of business. One, yet again, just sleep at the wheel here. It's season seven. [01:08:56] Speaker B: Season seven. [01:08:57] Speaker C: Jeremiah, thank you for being part of our first episode of season seven. So, yes, this is the beginning of [01:09:04] Speaker B: our seventh year doing this podcast. [01:09:06] Speaker A: Congratulations. [01:09:08] Speaker C: Yes. [01:09:08] Speaker B: So thank you. [01:09:09] Speaker C: This is our official kickoff to season seven. Now, in our last live show, I did put a call out to the audience because we were sitting at 549 reviews and the OCD in me was like, can we just get one more to get to 500? [01:09:21] Speaker B: We got 555. [01:09:24] Speaker C: And so I didn't feel right. Like at one I was like, I can't take up a half the show reading the reviews. I don't just want to, like, you know, thank the person who left the 550th. Although they're going to get it billing right now. But over the course of the next few shows, I'm going to try to read those people who really pushed us over the edge from 550 to 555. Your reviews will get read on these live shows, which is something we don't typically do. So, Sam, you want to give the jingle. I mean, you might as well do it live. [01:09:49] Speaker B: Simply the best, better than all the rest. [01:09:54] Speaker C: All right, the 550th review comes from WMTWIG, maybe WM Twig, who writes big DCL duo fan, fantastic podcast for Disney cruise line fans. The hosts bring great energy and helpful information about everything from itineraries to onboard experiences. Experiences. It's become one of my go to podcasts when I need a little Disney cruise magic. So there you go, Sam. [01:10:18] Speaker B: Oh, I love that thank you for that. I love that you guys. Thank you so much to everyone who has reviewed our show from the very beginning, starting with our number one fan, Tracy, to our 555th review. We just so appreciate it. We know that there are thousands of people watching and listening to us every week and we are humbled by your support and by your love and the way that you reach out to us. Emails, Instagram, Facebook, all the ways. We just so appreciate that. Everybody has offered us so much love and support over the years. So thanks for that. We gotta give special thanks to our show sponsors, My Path Unwinding Travel, and to the DCL magazine. We've got to give special love to Jeremiah and all of our friends over at Laughing Plan Place. We have so enjoyed getting to know you guys both on preview cruises, but also having you on the show and having Benji on the show. It's been just amazing. I gotta give a shout out to Doobie, who is the reason why Benji came on our show in the first place. Apparently Doobie, who works at Laughing Place, also listens to our show and told Benji that he should come on our show. And so if not for Doobie, Let [01:11:39] Speaker A: me throw out one piece really quick. Doobie was actually the creator of LAUGHING Place over 25 years ago. [01:11:47] Speaker C: Wow. [01:11:48] Speaker B: I didn't know he created it. Wow. [01:11:50] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. He and Rebecca were the co founders, but Doobie created the website and this was in the infancy of the Internet. So there are a few, you know, we can trace back to how this all started. Doobie was definitely one of those people that started this entire crazy Disney community. And he loves the cruising. You know, you guys need to have him on. He is the biggest cruise fan there is. [01:12:18] Speaker E: Yes. [01:12:18] Speaker B: Yeah. And he was just on one of the ships. I think he just got off the other day. Yeah, yeah. [01:12:24] Speaker C: All right. If you're out there watching this for whatever reason, listening to it after the fact, hit us up dclduomail.com We've got a guest spot reserved for you. [01:12:33] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. [01:12:34] Speaker C: Jeremiah, tell people how they can find before I preview next week's episode, which I already did a little bit, but tell people how they can find and connect with you and your travels and Laughing Place, all that great stuff. [01:12:45] Speaker A: So laughingplace.com is the main website, as I talked about. We are on Facebook, we are on Instagram threads, TikTok. It's all LaughingPlace. So don't just look for Laughing Place or the Laughing Place, as we found out a little while ago, is Laughingplace. For me, if you want to for some reason follow my crazy life. I'm on Instagram, just Jeremiah, good. You know, I traveled the parks. This was a whole other topic. But in just about a month I went to 10 different Disney parks, saw five different castles, and spent 12 days on the adventure. So, you know, the fact that I'm even here and conscious is a whole other topic. [01:13:39] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a miracle. [01:13:40] Speaker A: Jeremiah, I'm so glad to be here. Are the best and I'm so honored to be part of your seventh season. [01:13:47] Speaker C: Thanks Sharma. We love having you on and everybody over at Laughing Place, it's been a great journey and so thank you so much for spending some time with us. For everyone out there watching and listening, we will be back next week. Regular time, regular place, 5:30pm Pacific, 8:30pm Eastern. And we will be talking with Luciana Luciano. [01:14:10] Speaker B: Yeah, Luciana. Luciana. Luciana. She is a travel advisor here in the or, well here in the United States, but in the Orlando area. And she runs a it's mostly Portuguese speaking travel agency because she books for Brazilians and Brazilian Americans. And she was on the first four sailings of the Disney Adventure. So she's gonna give us a whole bunch of information. She got to experience a lot of the specialty dining. She got to sail both in concierge and in non concierge. So we're going to get some information about those experiences as well. And of course back to back cruising information because she had three opportunities where she was a back to back cruiser. So and, and she can also tell us about some of the things that have changed from the beginning of the launch to the fourth sailing because like I said there were some operational changes with reservations and things like that. So we're super excited to have her on. We I did meet her on the maiden voyage of the Destiny and she was also on a preview sailing. So she's a wealth of knowledge, definitely a Disney expert in her own right. And so we're very excited to have her on next week. But with that we'll just say thank you to everyone listening, watching after the fact. Make sure to like and subscribe on YouTube and of course to give us those five stars on Apple podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts.
