Ep. 304 - Partying Like It's 1999: It's New Year's Eve on Disney Cruise Line

Perhaps hopefully something different than just the Christmas and Thanksgiving menu but maybe not so did you get a special menu in dining that night. He just really wanted to jump into the ocean so he found a spot where he could get in the water. Excursion wise that we never called our card company to let them know that we were gonna be out of the country. Um, it's just a plethora of because there's a place called seven mile beach and it's very popular and going cayman. Um, it's a great spot because you can walk out on on the water. But there's a spot for me to jump in the water. They had everybody go there and I think a lot of people. 09:32.27 Sam You know. 09:32.47 dclduo Okay, yeah. 09:40.98 Robby and Jillian Did maybe an excursion in cosimel and then thought to do the same thing we did in Grand Cayman to just enjoy the beaches so that there seemed to be a large number of people without an excursion so that could have been why it was extra long and but yeah, we just kind of had to wait our turn to get on but actually enjoyed being out on the water. You could go other than the kids club um did you get to spend some time at the adult pool or in the spa. What kinds of stuff did you get up to. 10:56.77 Robby and Jillian The first thing that this the first time we've done this and I think it's because we didn't have our son. We started this trip off with a bang and we didn't expect that when we first got on welcome the abne family and we've cheered like crazy. 11:10.93 Sam Oh yeah, the best right. 11:12.94 Robby and Jillian We went straight to deck three promenade to book Paulo and sasha oh I love sasha. He's the best he is the absolute best. We walked straight to him and we're like do you have any anything available because um, online it says it's booked. He goes whatever you want. 11:30.18 dclduo Yeah. 11:32.25 Robby and Jillian That's literally what you thought whatever you want and so we booked dinner and but dinner and brunch. Um, that's a very very first thing we did and then um obviously the party was at four thirty so we thought let's go to Census and just see what's available. 11:37.60 Sam Love it. 11:50.83 Robby and Jillian Get to census our plan was to do rainforest let's stay frugal. We don't need to overspend then I know about I know that there's they do discounts when the spa is slow. 11:55.39 Sam Right? Best lead plans. Yeah. 12:04.40 Robby and Jillian And so she said well if you want to do one at two o'clock we'll give you a 75 minute for a 50 minute price we were like sold so we booked that year we booked that massage at two thirty that day before the ah the sale away. Yeah. 12:17.44 Sam Before the deck party the sale away. Yeah, love. 12:21.43 Robby and Jillian So we started the cruise off with a bang and I would suggest that to anybody it was so fun. Not only did did we get the discount but it felt like we're starting this off right? So oh yeah. 12:28.83 Sam Yeah, total relaxation. Yeah, and there's not really I mean there's a bunch of like open houses if you've been on the cruise before I think this is a great way to do it like but for a lot of people who haven't been on the ship before they like to spend that first day kind of exploring. But if you have been on the ships before you don't really need to do that exploring and so. There's not a ton of like organized activities going on. It's all these like open house experiences going on around that time. So it's perfect to do you know a nice long massage. Oh I love that idea I might have to do that. 12:56.55 Robby and Jillian Exactly yes, we did day 2 brunch because I thought okay let's meet our servers night one and so we did regular dinner night one but we did brunch day 2 and then dinner night three then we just. 12:57.20 dclduo So wait. The entertainment staff they put on all the fun for the adults and the kids but they're really in charge of the adults who are just big kids and so tisa is like the head honcho of Cruise staff like 1 thing we found out after going so many nights. 15:06.68 Sam Hack I Love that. 15:15.85 Sam Yeah. 15:24.94 Robby and Jillian Every night with Tisa she like writes the writes the shows she she puts together the shows and so night one she was just laughing and laughing and laughing. It is basically a tour of the ship where they talk about the inspiration behind a lot of the design elements. Um, you will get a lot of history about the ship and really the ship design when I say the hit about the ship. Um, and it is different. Not just on every single ship but it is also different depending upon which tour guide which you have which is somebody from the entertainment staff as they are given. A ton of different facts that they can go over but they get to pick and choose what they really like to talk about and so you can do it on the same ship with a different tour guide and actually get a different tour each time so it is an adults only tour there are some tours on day. 1 of of the ships. 17:17.92 dclduo Yeah. 17:25.64 Sam That are open to all ages but the art of the theme show tour is one that is adults only and then fathoms is one of the adult club venues I should say it's not always adult. It's adult after like 9 p m but during the rest of the day. It's open for all ages and they often do like. Karaoke and family karaoke and all of the adult only shows like match your mate which is a newlywed game. Did you guys do go to match your mate I feel like that's you know that's obviously a classic. Um to one stay up that late because the kids wake up so early. That's really what it comes down to. It's not that I can't say up that late. It's that my kid is up. 19:44.25 Robby and Jillian Um. 19:54.42 Sam Like an alarm at 6 a m every day it doesn't matter if we're on vacation or at home and then yeah I mean somebody's got to be in the room to put him to bed and actually stay in the room with him while he's sleeping. Well, what's funny is that we didn't have table mates for the first 3 nights so we thought well maybe they didn't make the ship for 1 reason or another so on night four we meet them and they're these brothers a little bit younger than us who live and breathe. Every Disney fact you could imagine and so we planned the next day that there was going to be Marvel trivia and we said we're a team of 4 sorry can we pause my son is crying I'm gonna whole life I think. 21:50.95 Sam Um, yeah, and did you win? Yeah, they were younger brothers. Honestly, we only vacationed once just the 2 of us love my family. We're super close and we all loved Disney but it was so nice. Have especially the cruise experience just the 2 of us we almost every day would go into this balla locker room and take a nice long hot shower sometimes even a little nap that never happens anymore. But I don't really count those because they're not disney performers I would I'd love to know what you you guys. So I've seen Disney dreams probably 12 of the 14 times. Still go because I am a theater person and I love it and honestly the whole time I just want to be in it. But yeah, the whole time I'm like I could do that part I could do that part but all that to say we this was probably the time that we enjoyed Disney dreams the most it was they executed it very very well. So while the cruise staff. The entertainment staff are ah all amazing and talented. You do get a different caliber when you get. And some of them could be on Broadway to be fair, a lot. You know some of the folks who are in the the regular the main stage theater cast could could easily um, you know be on Broadway if they just got lucky right?
